A breathtaking high-altitude trail running scene captured from an elevated viewpoint looking down into a vast green mountain valley. In the foreground, a rocky, gravel-covered trail winds along a grassy ridge, where three hikers with backpacks are visible making their way along the path. Below them, the valley floor stretches out with a braided, rocky riverbed weaving through vibrant green meadows flanked by steep mountain slopes dotted with coniferous trees. Towering, jagged mountain peaks rise dramatically on both sides of the valley, their green slopes transitioning to rocky outcrops. Above, a dramatic sky of deep blue patches interspersed with large, billowing white and grey clouds creates a sense of openness and freedom. The image conveys the raw beauty and solitude of alpine hiking.

Breathtaking view of the Schöberspitze mountain rising majestically in the Tuxer Alps. A winding mountain path invites exploration through this stunning high-altitude landscape.Standing atop the Schober Spitze, the camera captures an expansive alpine vista on what appears to be a bright but partly cloudy day. A simple wooden marker post anchors the rocky summit foreground. Below and beyond, dramatic green mountain ridges cascade into deep valleys, their contours highlighted by dappled sunlight breaking through scattered clouds. The sky above is a vivid blue, filled with large, dramatic cumulus clouds that add a sense of vastness to this high-altitude scene.A breathtaking view of the Hohe Warte peak in the Tuxer Alps. A sharp, rocky summit rises majestically above rolling green mountain slopes in the foreground, where patches of sunlight illuminate alpine meadows and dense pine forests below. In the distance, layers of hazy blue mountain ranges stretch across the horizon beneath a partly cloudy sky. A delicate, faint rainbow arcs gracefully on the right side of the mountain peak, adding a magical touch to the dramatic landscape captured during what appears to be late afternoon light.A young man hikes uphill on a narrow, rocky mountain trail during a downpour. Seen from behind, he wears a blue cap, mustard-yellow rain and visibly wet jacket black shorts, and blue trail shoes, carrying a large black Ortovox backpack. after a recent firmware update, my #Garmin Forerunner 955 has gone nuts. At 53, a heart rate of 190bpm is of course possible, but not on my daily route. And a completely reversed performance condition is also something special. Has anyone else seen this?
Garmin Forerunner heart rate chart from a trail run showing a clear sensor error at the start. The graph displays an implausible spike to approximately 170 bpm in the first few minutes before dropping sharply and stabilizing around 140-160 bpm for the remainder of the 1:07 run. Average HR recorded as 155 bpm, max 191 bpm. Training Effect shows 4.4 aerobic and 2.0 anaerobic. The erroneous early heart rate reading likely caused the unusual Performance Condition calculation seen in the companion chart.Garmin Performance Condition graph from a 1:07 trail run showing an inverted pattern. Instead of the typical decline from fresh to fatigued, the metric starts at approximately -5 to -6 for the first 25 minutes, then gradually climbs through the run, finally reaching values around 0 to slightly positive in the final 15 minutes. The reversed curve suggests the watch's real-time performance assessment was influenced by erroneous early data.

Today I wanted to push myself a little bit, so I ran my usual 15 km on a different route, with 650m EG instead of the usual 500m while keeping my pace below 7. I've managed that a few times before on the same route, but unfortunately it didn't work out today […] [Original post on sigmoid.social]
A collage consisting of 3 photos:

With the current #heatwave across Europe, for me it's only possible to go out #TrailRunning in the morn when it's around 20C Now, at 5.30pm, as I write this, my simple outdoor thermometer shows almost 43C. And that's at almost 1000m altitude! This is not […] [Original post on sigmoid.social]
This photo collage shows three images from a summer day in the Tyrolean Alps. Today, I only managed to do a shorter than usual 11 km trail run, as I had to pick up my wife from physio, where she got dry needling treatment. It's a bit like acupuncture for grown ups and, how can I put it, not for the faint hearted. Those needles!!! But […] [Original post on sigmoid.social]

@resingm I was wondering the same, albeit coming from the other side (ie. are they blocking some "controversial" sites for example used for file sharing). Their "for public" offering doesn't do any "legal filtering", whatever that may mean: www.joindns4.eu/for-public
a screenshot of a part of the https://www.joindns4.eu/for-public website, showing an informal text reading in light blue letters:
"Legal Filtering
We do not apply any type of legal filtering."

A nice view down to Lago di Lugano, where I've been staying to visit my sister since Friday. A very lovely place, and also perfect for #TrailRunning, but that's another story 😇 #SilentSunday #Lugano #Switzerland
The image shows a stunning panoramic view of Lake Lugano (Lago di Lugano) from an elevated viewpoint with a metal railing. The calm blue waters of the lake are surrounded by lush green mountains under a bright blue sky with scattered white clouds. In the foreground is a rocky outcrop with a viewing platform, while the middle ground captures the serpentine shape of the lake winding between mountains. Small settlements can be seen nestled along the shoreline, and the overall scene represents a beautiful Alpine landscape on the border between Switzerland and Italy, photographed on a sunny day in spring.

My usual 15km trail run, squeezed in today around lunchtime because it was pouring with rain before and after. On top of that, the temperature plummeted from almost 30°C at the weekend to 8°C today ... But what can you say, it's spring and after the rain the […] [Original post on sigmoid.social]
The image collage shows three different forest scenes in a misty, damp woodland environment:

1. The top image depicts a narrow dirt path winding through a mixed coniferous and deciduous forest. Evergreen trees dominate the left side, while younger deciduous trees with bright green leaves are visible on the right. In the distance, there appears to be some kind of structure or clearing visible through the trees.

2. The bottom left image shows the corner of what appears to be a rustic wooden cabin or structure with weathered wooden walls. There's a wooden fence in the foreground, and fog is visible in the background with tall evergreen trees. White flowering shrubs or plants are growing near the structure.

3. The bottom right image shows a muddy, eroded forest trail with exposed roots and rocks. The path appears wet and recently rained on, cutting through a dense stand of primarily coniferous trees with straight trunks.

All three images capture a moody, misty atmosphere in a temperate forest environment during spring.

A reminder for myself, nicely packaged in the form of a Haiku... No matter how "experienced" and "senior" you may be, this strikes mercilessly from behind when you least expect it... ⚠️ It's always the #DNS ⚠️ #ItsAlwaysDNS #networking #noc image credits go to reddit, see ALT
A watercolor painting of a cherry blossom branch with delicate pink flowers against a white background. The image contains a short Haiku in black calligraphic text that reads: "It's not DNS / There's no way it's DNS / It was DNS" attributed to "-SSBroski". The painting features a graceful branch extending diagonally across the image with clusters of small pink flowers and petals, rendered in a minimalist East Asian brush painting style. The artist's signature is in the bottom right corner.

Celine Pypaert stands on stage at QCon London in front of a presentation slide titled 'TODO (Crawl stage)'. The slide lists three completed security tasks, each with a checkmark: 'Detect the top 5 "fixable" vulnerabilities', 'Assign vulns as tasks to owners', and 'Draft a Standard & Policy'. Each task includes a note about its benefit, such as helping with documentation or risk registration. The slide ends with a note: 'Next: ask wider teams for support; compensating controls (WAF protections, rate limiting, etc.)'. A photo of a woman working on a laptop is shown on the left side of the slide.

The image shows a sunset view of London's skyline along the River Thames. In the foreground is the river with a small boat visible on the right side. The iconic Tower Bridge can be seen on the left side of the image. The background features London's distinctive financial district skyline including recognizable buildings like the curved "Gherkin" (30 St Mary Axe) and the "Walkie-Talkie" (20 Fenchurch Street) among other modern skyscrapers, all bathed in golden sunset light. The sky is clear with a few contrails visible, creating a peaceful twilight scene of the city.

An image collage featuring three main parts:

1. Top: Myself standing in front of a blue gate entrance to the Center for the Promotion of the Marathon Race in the city of Marathon. A white wall with a sign in both Greek and English identifying the center is visible to the left.

2. Bottom Left: A scenic hiking trail through Parnitha National Park, showing a rugged path winding through abundant pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation on a hillside under cloudy skies.

3. Bottom Right: A panoramic vista from an elevated viewpoint in Parnitha National Park, overlooking Athens and the Saronic Gulf in the distance, with mountains visible through a light haze and lush greenery in the foreground.
