Funds for Head Start, RIPTA, & Medicaid are at risk, while the rich get another year of tax breaks. Having just the top 5,700 income earners pay their fair share would save vital services across #RI. Use this form—send a postcard to your lawmakers. We'll mail it for you! ✴️ forms.gle/H8a73eKgVn5H...

Rep. @karenalzate.bsky.social: "There is enough money to fund what #RI families need. The Q isn’t whether we have the resources; it’s whether we have the courage. When the wealthiest claim they can’t afford to contribute more, while working families struggle, we know something isn’t right.”

RI Working Families Party response to Governor McKee's State of the State address—
In response to Governor McKee’s State of the State address, New England Regional Director Georgia Hollister Isman said:

The question we need to ask our state leaders this year is: Who are these decisions really for? Are they for the regular people whose hard work builds our communities? Or are they making the millionaires and summer-home-billionaires even richer while more Rhode Island families get sidestepped?

We can’t pretend there aren’t sides here. Trump and Musk are pledging to cut taxes for their billionaire friends, and pay for it by cutting Social Security and Medicare, and gutting public schools and childcare. Governor McKee and Rhode Island lawmakers’ focus should be showing voters what it means to have a state government that’s really on your side.

That means fighting the damage coming from the White House, and building a government that actually fights for working people. Leadership can signal they’re ready to take a stand by refusing to slash the services and programs that help the majority of working families. And like it or not, they’ll have to put up a fight when greedy multi-millionaires and billionaires say they can’t afford to get a little less rich each year by paying what they owe, just so kids don’t go hungry at school. That’s what we need to be thinking about this year – and we need to be clear-sighted about whose side we’re on.
