Fail to believe that this couldn’t have been handled better by his now former employer.

My 1996 self would be almost as excited as my current self about tonight.

Options to reinvest fees we receive for Bruno, Garna(?), the Alvaro sell on, the wages saved from outgoings. Badly need a striker. But the market is sparse. Osimhen the obvious money-no-object candidate. Gyokeres - familiar with UK (and Wales) and Amorim. Older but more proven? Others?? Who?

On Bruno. Trying to take a balanced view on the situation. For selling: We reap what we sow. Years of mismanagement compounded by a terrible seaosn and a fork in the road loss vs Spurs, leads us to needing cash. We’d get a decent number for a soon to be 31yr old.

Given what happened this week, and the fact that he’s 31 in September, I wouldn’t blame him for wanting a change. I’d prefer it if it was to a club like Bayern or PSG, so he could win the silverware his career deserves. But that money is badly needed too.

Easy to be wise after the event, but it’s interesting to reflect on the analysis carried out last summer into EtH replacements. I recall reading it and whilst Amorim actually topped the list, I held reservation due to the 3-4-3 formation. Here for reference jamesrenton10.medium.com/the-best-sta...

The morning after the night before. The lowest I have ever felt about this football club last night. Incredible how closely your mental health can be linked to a 11 guys kicking a ball on some grass. The worst season in my lifetime, got even worse thanks to that horror-show.

I genuinely believe that Plan B, given the massive expenditure required to fund an Amorim side, could now see him go. The deficit caused by this loss is so significant that we may not be able to afford to back him. It’s going to be a huge crossroads month ahead.

Baffled by Amorim’s reluctance to address what was abundantly obvious and make earlier changes. He messed up.

I’m *very* nervous about tonight’s match. So much is riding on it, and we’re not exactly mentally tough, are we? Quite the opposite, in fact. I suggest that more pressure is on United than Spurs, and that burden will feel heavy. Look at how poor we were against Athletic at OT.

How on earth doesn't VAR intervene here? Clearly I'm all for it given he then saves a City penalty, but this is baffling.

The stick-the-centre-half-up-top tactic is back with vengeance, and I'm all here for it. Football.

Don’t get the hysteria. I mean would you rather get paid handsomely to live in Madrid, or in Liverpool, for doing precisely the same job. Pretty sure the majority would select the former. Weird how we hold sportspeople, and footballers in particular, to a different standard.

For the love of God get De Ligt on halftime.

Complete lack of composurein our own third is astonishing. Athletic doing a great pressing job on us.

Yeah not gonna lie, not good good vibes about this evening folks! Lindylong masterclass awaits. A draw would be most appreciated.

Just finished Killing Thatcher, by Rory Carroll. A stunning piece of work, superb storytelling. A non-fiction novel that reads like a thriller. Unputdownable.

Bumping into World Cup winner Fernando Llorente, scorer of one of the finest goals I’ve seen against United, and former Jack, in a zoo on Tenerife wasn’t on my bingo card, but here we are!

We’ve been utterly horrendous since Lyon went down to ten. Terrible game management.

Memories of when Fonseca last graced Old Trafford as manager of Roma, whilst masquerading as Sylvester Stallone. Insert knockout pun here.

Ok half all things considered. Nice to see Garna grab a goal. Let’s hope it does his confidence some good. The sooner we hook Eriksen, bring Mount on, and drop Bruno into midfield, the better. Amass looks like a player too.

275 appearances Lindylong has made for us. 275! I can’t remember any noteworthy ones. Plenty of average ones tho. Crazy.

Schoolboy defending that. Lindylong, Ugarte and even Yoro all culpable to differing extents.

Over on the other place. Wild bit of engagement farming bringing United into it. Expected better of a BBC guy.

So we need a striker, clearly. Clearly. Money is tight as we need a lot of players. Delap - economically works - but another young striker. Albeit one who has shown more in a struggling side than Højlund has in two seasons at Utd. Whilst I’d prefer a more experienced forward.

Rhys @rhysgwyn.bsky.social · 10/04/2025
not going to mention that uselees keeper, but why does he sub our CB all the time??? Maguire stays on, does that situation develop? And naivety in terms of game management. That last attack of ours killed us. Should have seen it out. Instead we get sucker punched on the counter.

Strange one last night. I felt we genuinely played well; patterns were visible, structure good, most players did ok. We got sucker punched early and Forest did what Forest do, sat deep, ceded possession and challenged us to break them down. Something we remain poor at doing.

Garna having a shocker. The rest are doing alright. We're playing well.

Ah. After 16 days I'd missed that strangely familiar feeling of optimism and hope being cruelly drowned by despair. United that.

Am in the midst of listening to Gareth Rhys Owen's excellent podcast in Finding Gavin Henson today (v decent: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p...); so to see Scott Johnson's name crop up as a favourite candidate as new WRU DoR was a splutter my drink out moment. Talk about a blast from the past...

Know of a family that left half time of the Wales game yesterday - not because of what happened on the pitch. They left as their young children got spooked after a man fell two from rows behind onto them, spilling his beer all over the mum. Apparently this gentleman wasn’t particularly remorseful.

I strongly dislike the lack of conviction in referees not awarding blatant red cards in rugby. It’s clear that a red card should have been given to the Italian player.

I feel like not enough is being made of the absolute botch Apple have made of AI/Siri, in light of the advances of others. In particular how it's been marketed and massively miss-sold. They are absolutely miles behind the competition - it's an abomination how bad it is. Stunning failure.

First game I’ve thoroughly enjoyed for a long time. Could have/should have scored at least two or three more. Plenty of very decent performances. Nobody had a bad game. Gutted Rasmus didn’t score but he was excellent. Signs of positive change?

Amidst the ongoing discussions and misinformation, it's crucial to highlight the paucity of the Glazers' *personal* investment into United over the past 20yrs. This is indicative and not scientific, but provides a picture of how little investment there has been from them compared to other PL clubs.

Well, that was quite enjoyable, all things considered. Could have, perhaps should have won it. Much more dynamic in attack, and all players contributed. Definitely room for optimism ahead of Sociedad. Heaven, Mazraoui, Garna, all stood out. Bruno obvs, goes without saying.

Garnacho. Disappointed yet unsurprised by his petulant reaction to being subbed. Personalising a decision taken for the team. In a functioning side, a senior pro would have a stern word with him about that. We need a no-dickheads ethos now more than ever.
