Currently reading this novel by Julian Maclaren-Ross. It's very evocative of late 1930s Britain, a rather grubby stuffy place. But I am even more pleased to have picked up Arnold Bennett's most famous novel yesterday. Bennett is one of my favourite early 20th Century British authors 🙂 #booksky

Two years ago I sent my last copy of one of my books to a reviewer who was keen to review it. But they never reviewed it, so I took the unprecedented step of asking for the book back. Just finished reading this. It's not quite like other Simenon books. It feels as if he took greater care to be more 'literary' and his prose as a result is somehow less fluid. But it's still magnificent, of course. In tone and style, Simenon's 'roman durs' often resemble the work of Camus #booksky

Publication Day... My first MEGAPACK® collection was published four years ago. There will be three in total. This is the second and I think it's the best of them. The nicest thing for me about the MEGAPACK® series is appearing alongside Ray Bradbury, Fritz Leiber, Fredric Brown, etc #booksky 🙂

The story I wrote for the tribute anthology to Charlie Chaplin has been accepted. My tale concerns Chaplin when he was a Music Hall star. He played the Palace Theatre in Swansea.
