Local democracy in action tonight: packed Planning Commission meeting on new apartments and data center ordinances. Nothing is final yet. If these issues matter to you, keep an eye out for the next round of meetings.

If you’ve got thoughts about housing, trees, or how/where data centers belong, this is a good chance to get your views on the record. #datacenters #rochesterhills #michigan
Graphic announcing the Rochester Hills Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 7 p.m. The top text reads “Rochester Hills Planning Commission Meeting.” The middle of the image highlights two agenda items: “Penelope’s Place Apartments” with a small apartment rendering and bullet points noting 58 market‑rate units on the east side of Adams just north of Auburn, currently zoned for office; and “Data Center Ordinances” with a photo of server racks and bullets noting a 180‑day moratorium on new data center applications and that the city is drafting local rules. A bright yellow bar at the bottom says “Show Up & Speak Up” and lists the location as Rochester Hills City Hall, 1000 Rochester Hills Dr., with a note that written comments can be emailed to planning@rochesterhills.org if residents cannot attend.

Last day to get on the August 4th ballot as a Precinct Delegate in Oakland County 💙 If you’ve ever said “we need better representation,” this is your chance. DM me and I’ll help you file today.
Informational graphic titled ‘Oakland County Needs More Democratic Precinct Delegates’ showing that only 548 of 2,274 precinct delegate seats are filled in Oakland County (24% file rate) and over 1,500 seats remain open. It explains that precinct delegates are grassroots party leaders who support Democratic candidates, talk with candidates, help shape party direction, and serve as a voice for their communities. A banner at the bottom urges people to become a precinct delegate and notes the deadline to file to be on the August 4 ballot is May 5 at 4 p.m.

Time is ticking. Deadline is May 5 at 4 p.m.
Infographic titled ‘HD‑55 Precinct Delegate Update’ showing that in Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Oakland Township only a small share of Democratic precinct delegate seats are filled as of April 29, with 20, 100, and 28 open seats still available. A note explains that any voter can serve as a precinct delegate with no fee, no current campaigning required, and no need to travel to Lansing, and directs people to check their precinct at the Michigan Voter Information Center before the May 5 filing deadline.

Here's what precinct delegates actually do: vote on party leadership, help choose candidates, shape the issues the party stands for. You're the grassroots voice connecting your neighbors to the party and the party to your neighbors. @miprogressive.bsky.social @michigandems.bsky.social
Oakland County precinct delegate graphic showing many jurisdictions under 20% filled, with several at 0% including Bloomfield Hills, Novi Township, South Lyon, and Walled Lake. Filing deadline May 5th at 4 PM. Data from 4/29/2026 by Rhonda Yates.

Real change starts below Congress. It starts with school boards, city councils—& the precinct delegates who help choose our leaders. In a lot of Oakland County communities, zero Democrats have filed for precinct delegate so far. @mi10thdistrictdems.bsky.social @mi11thdems.bsky.social
Infographic with bold red headline ‘URGENT: 0 APPLICANTS’ about Democratic precinct delegate positions in Oakland County, Michigan. It lists jurisdictions that currently have zero Democratic precinct delegate applicants: Addison Township, Bloomfield Hills, Fenton, Groveland Township, Holly Township, Lake Angelus, Madison Heights, Pleasant Ridge, Royal Oak Township, and Sylvan Lake. A red banner at the bottom reads ‘DEADLINE: May 4th at 4 PM’ with a small clock icon and a note ‘As of 4/27.’

Met with Rochester Hills firefighters yesterday. Short staffing isn’t just a numbers problem: it’s a mental health crisis. More calls, more trauma, less time to recover. HB 4688 could help. It’s sitting in the House waiting. We can do better. #nurses #police #firefighter #UnionStrong

Standing with Teamsters nurses at Corewell Health East fighting for their first fair contract. Safe staffing and fair wages shouldn’t be controversial. Michigan’s legislature has 110 members. Only one is a nurse. We need more frontline voices in Lansing. rhondayates.com

I met Danielle Drouillard when we both showed up to support nurses fighting for a fair contract in Rochester. I stand with nurses across our region because safe staffing and fair working conditions are patient safety issues. We need leaders in Lansing who understand healthcare from the inside.

I believe rights should not depend on who you are, where you came from, or who you voted for. After a fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis and Border agents shooting people in Portland, that belief is not theoretical. It is about accountability, dignity, and equal protection under the law.

Nearly 3/10 nurses are living with PTSD symptoms, a higher rate than the general population and even war veterans. Nurses are experiencing trauma and still show up for their patients. We need lawmakers to treat this like the public health crisis it is. Safe care starts with supported nurses. #Nurses
