The teif explained that he'd made a bet with an arcanoloth that he could spend a year in Zenador directing people where they needed to go, and in exchange he'd get a ring of three wishes. He doesn't know how long he's been there but he's optimistic that he will remember everything when he gets home

Micko was very surprised that the chest punched him 15ft into a wall, and decided to lay down while the others got the chest open. They found some magic items and the vestments for the church, which Axiom the wizard priest declared were dedicated to Zzyczesiya the demon lord.

After the rest, at full health, Micko found a chest with no lock, just a flat panel with some runes he didn't bother to read. He just tried to smash it open. Did you know that putting the spell Pulse Wave into a Glyph of Warding is a totally legal in the rules and hilarious way to prevent theft?

Gross? Yes. A difficult encounter? Only because they panicked. After they killed it through panic and punching and a well placed Cloud of Daggers, they decided to rest inside the very much not-consecrated church.

While the party isn't the terrifying powerhouse of their last campaign together, they are still more powerful than a normal level 4 party. So what they found trying to dig up the graves was a Maurezhi. Wearing the skin of a sea elf. Which summoned a swarm of dretches.

A skinny pale demon with a bloated belly and pointed elven features. And pointed claws and teeth and toenails.

Anyway, they got to a flooded out graveyard surrounding a very ruined church with something scratching at the graves. Casual reminder that they're here for Sydney's Uncle's lost possessions. And they are still level 4.

Axiom had sent his familiar down the cliff to see what was going on. DMs if your players ever do this and you don't want them to know whats ahead? None of the Find Familiar options have more than 3hp and most of them are prey for something. Eat it.

The ghosts were, unsurprisingly, not a real problem, but the 100ft cliff they had to get down was. The wizards used a rope, Rosco and Sprout each have a variant on the Misty Step spell. Micko decided to tank the fall like a champ and had to be healed at the bottom.

I should point out Axiom has multiclassed into cleric and his goal appears to be finding and reviving dead goddesses of truth. I will have to get clarification so I can mess with him. His player has, to my knowledge, only refrained from multi-classing into cleric once.

After killing the mephit and the suture flies it spawned (because as a DM I can't have them fight one lone mephit) they ran into some random encounters, my favorite of which was a ghostly apparition of a group of soldiers. Which Sprout tried to stop for directions while wearing a tourist costume...

But they managed to get into Zenador after I accidentally made the guy controlling the portal into Lemongrab with a very unprepared silly voice. And the first thing they ran into was a mud mephit that tried to sell them Styx water. Micko was upset that they immediately tried to kill it.

Zenador is a swamp because someone tried to divert the river Styx through it. Yes that one with the memory water. Yes, it was a bad idea. But to prevent memory issues, a benefactor, the time dragon Chronepsis sent them stones that are supposed to prevent memory loss.

Micko traded his fur color to the dolls to find out that the egg he was born from (yes he's still a monkey) came from Mt Celestia. Sprout traded a mirror for the answer that the coordinates in the letter lead to The Abyss. Specifically a ship run around in a layer called Zenador.

Sprout was questioned about the murder under a truth spell. Micko refused the truth spell and nearly caused further problems. And Axiom was released with an order to stay in town for a couple of days. He got his stuff back. He found a letter addressed to Sydney. He did not have this letter before.

Okay SO... Defense lawyer got murdered. Party didn't do it. The party broke into the prosecutor's office and knocked her out and locked her in a closet. Axiom, the cleric on trial, got threatened in his cell. Sprout and Micko took over as the prosecutors. And the trial got thrown out.

Oh I nearly forgot. The whole party has a decent WIS save score. Except the bard. The macguffin they picked up turned out to be a cursed cloak. Which Sprout, the bard put on. Sprout failed his save. Sprout is now paranoid and can't sleep in the presence of reflections because he's being watched.

When I originally started being a DM, I had a Planescape adventure where, for reasons, the party had to defend their cleric for the crime of essentially violating a DNR. That party was later banned from serving as lawyers in Sigil after the trial went so far off the rails it could not be salvaged.

Specifically Axiom threw firebombs through the window of the Athar's guildhouse window because Axiom is pro-gods. Casual reminder that Axiom is a wizard who put most of his stats into strength and intelligence. What was supposed to be flavor is now a sidequest to DEFEND HIM IN COURT.

Okay been a little slow updating this but the party did make it back to Sigil safely. I THOUGHT I would drop them in the Hive with a Hand of Havoc anarchist nearby for a bit of flavor. I forgot one detail. Axiom is a secret anarchist. Axiom helped this guy throw firebombs. Axiom got arrested.

The correct answer is B), because someone thought Darkness was a good idea. The moths were possessed by the evil light and attacked the party and the guy they were after. The goon ended up accidentally ending the fight himself because I forgot that Circle of Death centered on self is a bad idea...

Now with Maul Bunyan the Axebeak, the party set out for civilization to attempt to find the guy they'd been chasing. They found civilization in the form of a village of animal people. After being taken in by a flamingo man called Balks for the evening, they got directions that the guy went north.

Casual reminder, the party consists of a sea elf, a cat man, a dog man, a monkey man, and a straight up dog. Dog Man Axiom decided to summon a steed. Cat Man Sprout didn't want to get off his shoulder and wouldn't stop talking. Axiom wanted to summon a Crocodile. What he got instead was an Axebeak.

A bipedal flightless bird not unlike a Dodo Bird. The bird's beak is vertically elongated and sharp, resembling an axe head. The Axebeak is an extremely aggressive bird that does not enjoy being used as a beast of burden. This one was nicknamed Maul Bunyan.

Session 2: The party ran errands! Honestly not that exciting a session, but it had to be done because I got them to their next big plothook, and the party ended up falling ass over teakettle into a layer of Elysium that is 95% marsh/wetlands. One of them swims normally, the others... not so much.
