I heard 10cc’s song “I’m Not in Love” on the radio when it was a hit in 1975. I was alone in my room at night and the whispered section freaked me out.

Queen Hit the Dance Floor on 'Hot Space' 40 Years Ago » PopMatters
Many Queen fans might not want to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hot Space, but the album checks too many quirky boxes to ignore it.

I rented a VCR in July 1985, since we did not own one, and asked my mom to tape Live Aid for me, while I was there at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. Mom passed away five years ago but I still have these tapes and her detailed notes.

Today’s Daily Record (October 1982 series) is Prince’s ‘1999.’ As provocative and catchy and danceable and weird as ever.

Today’s Daily Record (October 1982 series) has been ‘H2O’ by Daryl Hall & John Oates. Despite the presence of three hit singles, ‘H20’ feels like the least enticing album from H&O’s superstar era.

Today’s Album of the Day has been Donald Fagen’s ‘The Nightfly’, released in October 1982. I enjoy this album, which combines Fagen’s memories of growing up in the early 1960s with music that was state-of-the-art modern in 1982.

Today’s Daily Record has been Joni Mitchell’s 1982 album, ‘Wild Things Run Fast,’ which is a largely successful attempt by Mitchell to make a modern pop record circa 1982. Also, my attempts to resurrect “Huzzah!” are starting to pay off, at least in the English muffin sector.

'The Most Elaborate Wedding Ever Staged': Rosetta Tharpe At Griffith Stadium
In 1951, gospel star Rosetta Tharpe got married in front of thousands of fans at a baseball stadium. In some ways, says biographer Gayle Wald, it set the template for today's stadium rock concerts.

Taylor and Travis are allegedly celebrating their wedding at Madison Square Garden tomorrow, which is the 75th anniversary of Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s marriage to her manager in a Washington D.C. baseball stadium. Coincidence or is Taylor about to announce her new Sister Rosetta tribute album?

I get that. As it happens, I share my first and last names with this man whose work translating the I Ching influenced Carl Jung as he developed his concept of synchronicity, which is essentially the “plate of shrimp” concept. So I think about that scene a lot. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard...
