Otherwise everone has to do everything and nothing actually manages to get done. My car sure gets the worst of it, I barely understood how my 1976 car works. My 2022 hybrid is outright Clarke's law. Indeed, since my job is a thinky one, it seems I survive by the cognitive offloading of others.

Well, perhaps I have a math degree (I don't, it's in computer science) or other accreditation. We've worked pretty hard to come up with a system for evaluating expertise, regardless of recent movements to pretend it doesn't mean anything. Anyway, I was intending to agree. Cognitive offloading good.

A lovely Jupyter Notebook, the ollama Python module, and so forth -- it's nice. But many of my friends can only think the worst when LLMs are mentioned, and of course the worst people in the world are marketing them the same way. So the future persists in sucking.

It's funny you mention SQL, because probably my favorite thing to do with locally running models is to have one create SQL statements for me. Do I send them to a database without my checking first? No. But writing SQL is wearisome and I've done enough for a lifetime.
