And lastly a comparison to a few other pink Wearingeuls. None of these pics are showing shimmer but the Atlas-exclusive Twelfth Night has the same pearl-blue shimmer look. Just a much paler, cooler pink. Carmilla isn’t far off, really. But not shade as dark as Chang’e.

Comparisons to other close roses/pinks in my collection. Honestly Robert Oster Sugar Velvet is closest — the ink itself is slightly cooler toned, and its shimmer is gold rather than pearl blue. But if this strikes your fancy and you’re in the US, (boo tariffs), the Oster is an Atlas exclusive.

And here she is! Slightly dry, some shading, pearlescent blue shimmer. Warm leaning for a pink/rose, and lighter than the store swatch indicates in actual writing. (Also the label is much more purple than the ink is.)

Ok gotta new fountain pen ink, gonna nerd out.

A square ink bottle is held up to show a bluish shimmer in the bottle. The ink itself is a deep pink. The label is not visible on this side of the bottle, but the ink is Wearingeul Chang’e, exclusive to the Australian store Soe & Soe.

Layering writing with fountain pens with nibs of various sizes is very satisfying.

Overlapping writing on Rhodia grid paper. Pictured on the diagonal to look more interesting. The bottom layer of writing slants down to the right and is in two inks, a turquoise in a needlepoint grind and then a deeper teal in a medium. Above and crossing over those lines is writing in a deep blue ink although honestly it looks black, in a fine stub nib.

AH ha I knew it. Ok. They went purple, the bastards, so I am doubly in need of this. (I collect purple fountain pen inks and horror-themed fountain pen inks.)(MB limited edition inks are definitely overpriced, their regular line is much better.) Looks cooler-toned than MB Beatles.

Pelikan is bringing us fool’s gold ink this year. (Generally given to attendees of the annual Pelikan Hub meetups for fountain pen folk, look for sign ups this summer for Hubs in the fall.)

10 years ago today I ordered a fountain pen after being influenced by the Crone Island folks on Metafilter. Unfortunately I chose Amazon for the Lamy and did get a fake but it led to a Paradise Pens and then to local pen folks and here we are. Traveling to the Chicago show this year to celebrate.

Fountain pen folks: Colorverse has announced the colors they’ll be releasing as inks outside of the advent calendar. I’ll go for a bottle of Erebus Crater. The other two probably only samples.

This is incredibly pretty. And while it’s based on a 1903 Pelikan ad by Rudi Rother I’m starting to think of it as my Mollymauk fountain pen because peacocks and red eyes. (And because I just watched the first few Mighty Nein eps on Prime, yes.)

This isn’t a fountain pen ink but it’s purple and it’s sparkly and it’s datura so I do not care. (I may try putting it in an old beginner pen to see what happens, I’m thinking the restriction is like the Sailor Dipton shimmers. That is: a warning that there’s an excess of shimmer.)

I had a lovely time talking fountain pens at the Denver Pelikan Hub but the only picture I took was of my lemonade.

The fountain pen show in Denver is this weekend and ordinarily I’d be saving my pennies solely for that, but it’s also time for Halloween ink releases and something tells me this particular one might not be available forever, so.

A box of inks with one — Tono & Lims x Pen Chalet Oct. 2025 Swamp Thing — unboxed. It’s a swampy green ink (surprise!). Unsure if the copyright holder has signed off but I suspect not.

It is a beautiful fall morning in Denver and football fans have been in front of the TV since the 7:30a kickoff, which meant there was no line for a change at my favorite bakery. Got a mortadella sandwich and an apple galette.

Since they don’t have a proper cap, the nib hides behind like a trapdoor and will just never have the same seal. The nose cone came off one of mine once, it was interesting to see how it worked.
