I file public records for a living and I have never been sure my work counts as the same thing Hans Haacke did. Nobody settled it in 1971, or the fifty-five years since. Nobody at the Guggenheim has to answer me at all. So I asked the one person left who could, and he turns ninety next month.

I won a permanent injunction pro se for about $1,000. The lawyer I asked first quoted $750 an hour and a six-figure retainer for the same case. The case the market priced at $300,000 ran on a hundred bucks and a fake name.

Everyone hears "287(g)" and stops reading. ICE. Immigration. Federal secrecy. Nothing to see. Then the sheriff assigned local deputies, local vehicles, local dispatch, local overtime. Every one of those generates a county record under Chapter 119.

The Sheriff’s ICE Deal Is a Local Records Story
Your sheriff signed a 287(g) agreement. The paper trail did not vanish into federal law. It landed in local dispatch, local inboxes, local payroll, local policy files.

In September 2023 I incorporated the Woke Corporation and mailed cease-and-desist letters to DeSantis. Two judges did in 2026 what my filing couldn't. The First Amendment outranks a corporate charter.

On June 29 the Supreme Court ruled location tracking is a Fourth Amendment search. On July 4 I asked three Florida sheriffs to produce their warrants. Rebuilding a query protocol takes days. Five had passed. That was the whole test.

That’s when I noticed the music. Famous songs behind the Sheriff’s videos — “Kung Fu Fighting,” then AC/DC’s “Back in Black.” So I asked a simple question: where’s the license? First they sent the wrong song. Then they admitted they had nothing.

We are building JoeSnitch to smash this dynamic. We don't sell to city hall, so we don't play nice. 1. Absolute Proxy Anonymity: You report to us, we file the complaint under our name. 2. Citizen Verification: Cities can't fake resolutions if you flag them down.

If you try to complain on Nextdoor, it’s just an echo chamber with zero public paper trail. Worse, traditional apps force you to create accounts, exposing your real identity to nosy neighbors or vengeful property owners via public records leaks. Fear of retaliation silences citizens.

Welcome to the "Fake Resolution" loop. The dirty secret of civic-tech: These 800lb corporate gorillas are Business-to-Government (B2G). They don't work for you—they work for the cities paying their licensing fees. They are designed to clear backlogs, not hold city hall accountable.

I left Reddit. Not over a fight. Over the wiring. Reddit runs on vibes. I have autism. I read the rules page and take it at its word. The rules page and the rules they enforce are two different documents. A subreddit mod answers to nobody. City hall at least has to answer a records request.
