My wife and I have to choose if we eat chicken or beef each week, most times choosing chicken because it's slightly cheaper. Haven't had seafood like salmon in over a year. A decade ago we had a freezer full of meats and a well stocked pantry, now we struggle with gas and groceries week to week.

Because while I thought I felt safe with a military presence on the street, walking past armed troops on our way to lunch, my friend saw it as completely hostile to him. America was a religious extremist state, just as bad as any other, and now it was laser focused on any Muslim American. (6/7)

9/11 I was living just south of DC. I was getting ready for work and wasn't paying attention to the TV news. Something about a plane hitting the WTC. By the time I was leaving, I saw the second plane hit, but I was late and left. My route took me up 95, and around the Pentagon to Georgetown. (1/7)
