I saw these two signs together yesterday and I feel like this is a metaphor for the modern Internet.

There is genuinely nothing better than holding a friend's book in your hands for the first time. The genius queen @sasharavitch.bsky.social has this new freaky duology out and I'm so stoked to own it! Get yours here: weirdpunkbooks.square.site/product/enfr...

Okay I misremembered and this is in fact itself a little picture to memorize:
A screenshot of a tweet by a user called "Lily, the neighborhood pest..." that says: "one time i referenced a meme to this guy i was dating and he had never heard of it so i showed him the meme and his response was ”so im just supposed to memorize all your little pictures in order to have a conversation with you?” and not a DAY goes by,"

I can’t explain why but I have been laughing about this comic for days now. I’m sure there is history and context to it that, ngl, I know nothing about.
A series of panels showing a small girl wearing an apron. In the first one she says “I have just one line in the school play.” The next several panels show her practicing her line, “my lady, tea is served.” In the final panel she marched on stage and confidently delivers the line “they pay me in woims.”

"Why are people leaving this website?" Well... if you have literally any amount of notoriety a lot of your time on the site goes like this. I know I shouldn't engage with this kind of person but I need y'all to know that this is ~more than half of the kinds of replies a lot of folks (like me) get.
An account with a blacked out username replies to me saying "Why? Really?" I respond with "If you click the link in the post you just replied to, you will find the answer to your questions." The person then responds "It was rhetorical... Why would women even bother?" I reply "The answer to that question is also in the story :)" This person replies "You missed it! Take care Trumper!"

Anyway, here are two people who make and operate this website, just FYI.
Two Bsky posts, one by @why.bsky.team which says "Until December of last year I was using LLMs as fancy autocomplete for coding. It was nice for scaffolding out boilerplate, or giving me a gut check on some things, or banging out some boring routine stuff.

In the past two months Claude has written about 99% of my code. Things are changing. Fast"

The other by Paul Frazee (CTO of Bsky) which says: "A year ago, I thought LLMs were kind of neat but not that useful. I saw the code autocomplete and thought, meh.

Last summer just flipped. I never ever thought I would see automated code generation like we see now.

I know there’s baggage but you need to know the coders are being real about this"

At @coyotemedia.org we are strongly against generative AI slop. Also we can't afford a Getty subscription. So for a recent post about our favorite Bay Area Beefs, @soleilho.com and I broke out the sharpies and colored pencils and drew our own illustrations. Can you guess which beefs are which?
A bad illustration of two air traffic control towers boxing.A woman walking away from a store, saying "what a beautiful day to begin a career in politics!" Happy almost LOVB and MLV season, here is a photo from last season that I still can't stop laughing about.
A photo of a TV screen (so it's a little blurry and pixelated) of a woman sitting in the stands of a volleyball game, holding a sign that says "welcome to SL, UT" but it looks very much like it says "welcome to SLUT." The sign-holder is staring right at the camera

There are very few people who can get me emotional about ice cream (a dessert I don't even really like) but @pochoboymeetsworld.bsky.social is one of them. www.coyotemedia.org/oakland-ice-...
A screenshot of text that says: "One thing about being Mexican American is that we exist in a constant state of transformative wonder. We like to break shit (in a loving way), take it apart, reinvent and remix, gather the pieces, consume, celebrate, repeat. The art of making a piñata is, in itself, a delicate craft of precision, assemblage, flamboyant imagination, and taking a swing at what’s directly in front of you. There’s a kind of boldness, if not aggressive “watch me do this” attitude to it all. That’s just how it goes when you’re a California-raised Chicanx."

AI can simply never match the delight and joy of hand stitched goods made by non English speakers attempting to entice English speakers into buying their goods. These were a gift and I use them every day.

Their pride collection is also very… uh… desaturated let’s say? If I didn’t know this was for pride I would have no idea.
