I know, it's just rude. And petty. Kemi Badenoch doing her cabinet reshuffle was equally pathetic headlines grabbing, but she's the opposition so you can understand why she'd want to steal Burnham's thunder. Starmer was just mean spirited.

Today I lost my last shred of respect for Starmer when he chose to brutally upstage his successor by announcing he was leaving parliament on Burnham's first day in the House. A means meanspirited way to get your revenge.

Incredible! I mean technically a memoir is based on memories which can be notoriously unreliable, but that's miles away from fiction.

From the Guardian: "The US accounts for more than 20% of global tissue consumption despite having only 4% of the world’s population." Tissue meaning toilet paper. Clearly there's an awful lot of 💩 needs wiping up in the US right now.

I survive in retirement by being part of a rural group of parishes where I am still fit and able and willing to celebrate mass and preach every Sunday. Not sure how I will survive when I am no longer able to do so. I totally support and applaud our lay people who lead Morning Worship. But..

A great weekend at Pleshey House of Retreat, leading a Retreat on Praying with the Paslms. Such a lovely group, wonderful to be with them again.

You can tell Burnham is an urbanite when he thinks reducing bus fares will help reduce the cost of living. Not for people in rural areas, where the bus service is virtually non-existent.

This is a very good question, to which we are unlikely to get a coherent answer.

It was totally ludicrous that a majority of Bishops voted for the amendment but against the amended motion. But we will know who they are!

The most important thing is 'Labour ' . It's a long time since we had one of those. Jeremy Corbyn of course but that had challenges.

I really like the concept and the doctrinal emphasis, for me it just feels weird timing when you have harvest, with very similar themes, shortly after, and we already have a creation season earlier in the year which the C of E added to the RC calendar in the CW lectionary.

Kind of agree? But maybe not the biggest challenge facing us in the C of E right now!

www.theguardian.com/education/20... The hidden consequence of this is that schools are increasingly using newly qualified teachers to fill vacancies, and rejecting applications from experienced teachers because they cost too much. Great to encourage NQTs but leaching experience from schools.

Unions pleased with rise above forecast inflation but concerned nearly a third of it will come from school budgets

At least the Pope deals with achismatics firmly. Whereas the Anglican Communion merely tries to appease them. And we all know that appeasement rarely ends well.

When I refurbished my inherited bungalow for retirement, I really wanted a little balcony so, if I got too decrepit to get into the garden, I could still sit outside and enjoy the outdoors. It's very dinky!

Absolutely my experience that older people are often more progressive. I've notably had parishioners who are 80+ vocally supporting an inclusive church agenda. Often because of family members who are non binary, but also because of life experience that encourages tolerance.

I'm getting increasingly aggravated by websites that ask you to indicate your age. There are categories for every decade, until 65+. when we are all lumped in together. I'm 74 and my situation is different from a 65 year old and an 85 year old. But on all polls we're not distinguished. #casualAgeism

All in a retired vicars day. Afternoon drinking tea and chatting with a recently bereavement clergy friend. Home to help my nephew attack the rusted padlock on the septic tank cover with an angle grinder so we can access it to empty it. #countryParson.

I've had someone walk out during a sermon that they considered 'too political'. I pointed out that I was only reiterating what Jesus taught, translated into contemporary context. I took it as a compliment, that he was listening and thinking about what I said, even if he disagreed.

Lovely. Glad to see you use a recipe that uses fresh tomatoes, and also sautés each veg separately. I like to have a culture class and add some halloumi or feta . And some decent bread to mop it up.

If this is reliable, it's unbelievably worrying. Our planet fried to death by AI crap. More credible that being blasted by Vogons to make space for a hyperspace bypass. But just as terrifying.
