About 4 months ago my partner wanted me to build them a PC. Everyone I asked advice from said it was the worst possible time to build a PC. I countered that it was going the best time for a while. I'm so glad I built their PC when I did.

Fingers crossed it's that they want you to rip it apart. When my boss learned I was critical of AI, it turned into a months long barrage about how I need to try using AI more so I can see how good and helpful it is.

It's 2026. 3 years ago my friends all gushed about Baldur's Gate 3. My friend bought it for me for Christmas last year. I started playing it in June. My save file has 136 hours on it. As of today I am the first person in my entire friend group to beat the game.

I should also clarify, when I learned those songs were AI, any enjoyment I had listening to them instantly vanished. Just gone. No joy in pondering the lyrics, no one wrote them; no feeling of emotion from the notes, there was no emotion put into them. Just knowing they were AI killed them.

I'm completely left out of discovering anyone new on my own now, which really sucks. Some of my favorite songs were from me just listening to random music, but that time is over now. I can't trust anymore.

At this point, I just don't let YouTube recommend music to me. I don't want to research every artist and every song to see if it's AI so... I'm just sticking with what I have now and if a human I trust recommends a song/band, then I'll check them out.

The second I learned that a song I was jamming to was AI, I felt immense despair. At the time I couldn't tell, in hindsight it was more obvious. I honestly don't know if I'd be able to tell now with new AI slop, I don't have a good ear for music.

Understandable. I get it. I also dont like doing it. I also dont like that the author chose a genuinely terrible title that misrepresents the contents of their series and makes it difficult to recommend. I'd rather people give something a chance instead of being put off by a terrible title

It only shortens the length, it doesn't really hide the embarrassing or inaccurate (to the content of thr series, not inaccurate to the translation) title.

Legit, if there was a way to shorten the title in English and keep it understandable, while also hiding the title, I would do that. But Dungeon Pickup still gives the wrong impression.

It is obfuscation for English speakers that don't understand Japanese. Unless Im misusing the word obfuscation. The intent being to hide the actual title from the people I'm recommending to. If I wanted to talk about Brad Pitt without people knowing his name is Brad Pitt then sure, Brapi would work

I'm gonna be completely honest...I dont like what they did with Shenron's face. It's too skinny, and he looks like he has a very doofy overbite. Lego can make good looking dragon heads, I don't know what went wrong here.

For me, that's the point. Because the actual title gives an incorrect impression about the series. I get that's the title the author wanted to use, I don't know why, because it makes it REALLY hard to recommend to people.

I generally agree, with exceptions made for when the English title is an absolute mouthful or embarrassing to say or misrepresentative. I am going to say Danmachi over "Is it wrong to try to pickup girls in a dungeon" every time. Genuinely the obfuscation of the title is the point here.

That's obviously not the intended point of what's happening, but it is what happened. A character kills themselves and that magically sends impulses through everyone's minds that they were right all along and you just need to talk out your problems. ...not a great ending 5o pair with the openning

Spoiler for the ending: There's an admittedly uncharitable take away, but nonetheless one that CAN be taken away, that suicide is just the answer. All of the character's problems are effectively solved by a character choosing to kill themselves.

But... honestly it's pretty shallow, there's no real greater statement about society, or people, or even the characters. It set up a really strong opening and just kind of squandered that potential with "hey look at this abusive situation...anyways" The ending was also pretty egregious.

Finally watched Takopi's Original Sin. Gonna be a little controversial. It was grossly overhyped. I can see this being very challenging if you're sensitive to depictions of suicide (but really only the first episode) or if this is your first piece of media where bad things happen to children.

Nothing. The something we replaced econ and civics with was nothing. I was in the generation that was in school during the biggest cuts. I got to see what the grade ahead of me had for class options and what I had for options. My grade had a oit 1/3rd the choices. Most was just gone.

The vast majority of Americans do not understand taxes at all. I have seen people reject pay raises because it would put them in a higher tax bracket and they thought that meant they would have less money than before. I had to explain to my dad multiple times that's not how taxes work...

Okay, throwing out a hail mary probably way too late given this was...12 days ago, but The Rusty Lake games are very good. Not sure if they're exactly horror, but there are definitely elements of horror and a lot of uncanny vibes. Especially Paradise and Roots.
