Well, being a #spacehistorian, archivist, nonprofit Director, poet, and mom can get a bit hectic so I've been posting on the other platforms more (sorry) because bsky just hasn't picked up as much, plus it is too truncated! BSKY needs to be long form for deeper content! Heres a #poem though!

Over the years I've been asked why don't I donate my Viking spacecraft to the Smithsonian? Why do I keep "old papers" that can "just be digitized". I have 2000 sq feet of Viking Archives that can't be censored or manipulated. If you want to help DM me www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

RET @retviking.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

The boycotts have to be more than a day. This is also the time to offer support to neighbors. ALL neighbors! Even those who put us here. If we extend a genuine hand people will see we need community not dictators.

100% I've never seen such a display of school yard bullying out of a "leader" (and sidekicks). Literally trying to force him to say words "tell America thank you" "you cant win this without us"... Also classic abuser behavior - shame then create false dependency on fake heroism. Horrifying!

RET @retviking.bsky.social · 01/03/2025

These interviews are great! Such unique stories and interesting people! Sometimes we focus on the fight so much we don't look deeply enough at the people themselves and here we get the human AND the struggle! Both are important to make the change we need to see! This is a disaster, and will be particularly bad after a weather disaster. People will die and there will be vast economic costs from this. It's not about saving taxpayers' money. It's about disassembling the government.

Call your reps. It's one act that we can all take no matter where we are. Especially GOP reps. They need to feel the pressure and know they won't be reelected if they don't do something. I call mine almost every day. They need to feel the pain as bad as we are, if not worse.

90% of the global economy is transported on a ship, the whole world uses NOAA data, but definitely US shipping does. This is another crippling move by the fascist idiots in charge.

As a US Merchant Marine Officer, I am fucked without safe, reliable NOAA data. The safety of millions of passengers a year and the hundreds of millions of dollars value of the ship, are not safe without reliable NOAA data.

Perspective. Life under a #Dictator. Call, write letters, support those who have lost their work. #BOYCOTT. And prepare. Be frugal. Know where your family is. All.the.time. #PeacefulProtest (peacefully). Don't give up!

Me and 5 guys from college volunteered in the Philippines summer of 1985 at the behest of a classmate from there.
To get supplies we bribed Marcos' guards for cement, rebar, cement blocks, paint... We were followed by Marcos soldiers. I was almost kidnapped. People in bandanas w machine guns came out of the jungle surrounding the small building I was in. I ran down the hill where everyone else was. They lived like that every day and night under Dictator Marcos. He made his own laws. Arrested and killed whoever he felt was a "threat". Teenage boys and men disappeared. No one talked about it they were afraid...
