ㅤ It wasn’t the first time they argued, and it wouldn’t be the last, but Piers was in the worst moment of his (second) life and it took him a little longer to react. He staggered a little even when Chris pulled him. “If I don’t tell you anything, it’s because I don’t want to worry you. Don’t you »

ㅤ His captain’s words hurt him because he clearly couldn’t train or do the same things he did before, when he still kept his eye and arm—but, at the same time, they reminded him where he was, why and what he should do despite his current state. He couldn’t get angry with him, could he? Even »

ㅤ He was ashamed of how he felt and maybe he wanted to hide everything under a mountain of extra work that would compensate for that thought. Perhaps, too, this could surprise or confuse his captain—but Piers didn’t blame him. He had returned different. Chris’ reaction surprised him and he was »

ㅤ Maybe he was right, but who didn’t work on autopilot once? “I’m fine, captain. I just want to help, I’m doing my job.” Between the lines you could read what really worried him so much, that fear that was hidden under his skin and that did not let him breathe. “I don’t want to be useless.” ㅤ
