Fascinating response to my search query, Google. Concerned that folks may find out about Trump's red triangle FB ads that got removed in 2020? I think it's good for folks to see that this co-opting of Nazi symbols has been happening for a long time. The pink triangle showing up is no surprise.
A screenshot of Google search results when the query is "trump pink triangle post". At the top of the search results is a message from Google that says "It looks like the results below are changing quickly. If this topic is new, it can sometimes take time for reliable sources to publish information." This is followed by three search results that talk about Trump's post on Truth Social where he reshared a Washington Times opinion article that had a header image of a pink triangle being crossed out with a red circle and slash through it. These search results are from Chicago Tribune Digital Education, Times Now, and Instagram respectively. A screenshot of three ads with identical text posted on FB by Donald J. Trump, Mike Pence, and Team Trump respectively. The ad has a huge picture of an upside down red triangle, a symbol used in Nazi Germany to denote political prisoners. The text for the ad reads: Dangerous MOBS of far-left groups are running through our streets and causing absolute mayhem. They are DESTROYING our cities and rioting - it's absolute madness. It's important that EVERY American comes together at a time like this to send a united message that we will not stand for their radical actions any longer. We're calling on YOU to make a public statement and ad your name to stand with President Trump against ANTIFA. Please add your name IMMEDIATELY to stand with your President and his decision to declare ANTIFA a Terrorist Organization."A screenshot of a post by Donald J. Trump on Truth Social where he shared a Washington Times article titled "Army recruitment ads look quite different under Trump" and has a banner image displayed of an old TV with a black screen and a pink triangle crossed out on it.

Post a non-religious photo you think of as holy. #heathensky #pagansky
A willow tree in a park during summer. The grass beneath it is green, and the sky is just starting to turn orange before twilight.

If you ask whether I’d be the man or the geese, the answer is both.
A man lying on a grass lawn with geese honking around him like “what’s wrong?”

POV: Watching a documentary on YouTube about the first few years of Hitler’s rule, scrolling to the comments, and realizing you’re far from the only person watching it because of the election results. I’m glad we aren’t the only ones who see it. #FuckFascists
Two comments on YouTube. The names and profile pictures have been hidden. The comments read:
“Studying up again for the next few years in America”
And
“History doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes”Two YouTube comments. The names and profile pictures have been hidden. The comments read:
“‘The enemy from within’” sounds very familiar”
And
“Proud of others coming here to learn from history to know what to watch for. It’s their playbook.”Two YouTube comments. The names and profile pictures have been hidden. The comments read:
“Seriously, do you really need a college degree to see these parallels?”
And
“Are we all here for the same reason?”One YouTube comment. The name and profile picture have been hidden. The comment reads:
“‘Give us four years’”

📣 Call your reps and tell them to vote NO on HR 9495!
A screenshot of Robert Reich posting on YouTube. The text of his post reads: House Republicans have revived HR 9495, which would give Trump power to shut down nonprofits he doesn’t like under the guise of fighting “terrorism.”

52 House Dems shamefully joined the GOP in voting for it last week. Every Dem should vote against this authoritarian power-grab.

He quoted this post and above it wrote: If you’re represented by one of these Democrats, get on the phone and tell them to vote NO. (202) 224-3122A screenshot of a post that reads “If you’re represented by one of these Democrats, get on the phone and tell them to vote NO. (202) 224-3122”

(3/3) 🧵
Tell me to maintain frith
“We’re discussing in private
how to handle your feelings
and your voice, well—
it’s too abrasive, too divisive
and the sound cuts our ears”

Tell me I’m throwing haymakers
when all I’ve done is ask:

Why did you light that match
in the first place?
Or
Your friend lit that match,
why aren’t you doing anything?
Or
Shouldn’t we question the morals
of people who light matches
and don’t apologize to the person
whose house they burned? For you, I can only say this:
Peacemakers have their place;
but peacemakers have no job
if haymakers are never thrown

When you see evil, call it evil
When you’re at war, call it war

We are at war
We have been at war
And evil grows in silence

(2/3) 🧵
Tell me about country—
the safety you want from this box;
its borders are nothing more than
chalk on pavement

Tell me how his wall
will make that box strong;
the scribbles of rich children
will be enforced by gunfire

(And the ships that carried our ancestors
would be shunned today;
Can’t have our great grandparents
in tents on our lawns—
the kids are drawing there)Just—
Tell me what you mean
When you say “I love you”
When you say “I’ll fight for you”

The fight already started
And you’re not at my side

But others are,
or claim to be
And this poem is for them, too:

The ones who fight by my side
when it’s comfortable,
but can’t handle the flames
of even the matches they light

Tell me you support my rights,
but only when it tastes right on your tongue;
who defines ‘peace’ for your palette?
The protesters or the police?

It's been a while since I wrote poetry. TW for the heavy use of Christian themes and allusions to violence, including police brutality—and just for the overall tone of the piece being quite angry. If you're looking for something uplifting, probably better to keep scrolling. (1/3) 🧵
"When you say, 'I'll fight for you."'

Tell me about division,
and how the sound of my voice
cuts your ears
like shards of a shattered mirror

Tell me that’s not who you are
in the broken reflection,
cracks forming where the pen
presses too firmly on “R”

(And you say the mirror
would crack the same regardless
All politicians are equally bad
But the person in the mirror wasn’t you
It was me)Tell me Christ willed it
while you kneel and speak “King”
Is this really what he meant by
‘Love thy neighbor as yourself’?

Tell me how you bear
his cross on your back,
as if it’s not a symbol of his execution
at the hands of the state

(And I am sure that it’s heavy,
pushing splinters into your skin
That’s what happens when
how one dies
is honored more their life)

Discomfort is not a condemnation. Silence is not a condemnation. Walking away is not a condemnation. It is complicity.
