Also, we have GONKS! Mrs.T expertly negotiated the arrival of these genuine, late 70’s fairground gonks. Usually home made, with craft fur slapped on a thick card tube, these were prizes often given at funfairs. I got one in 1978 along with a Star Wars poster - just amazing to find these!

I haven’t painted a single picture this year so far. I’ve done trading cards, I’ve done loads on procreation, but my interest in digging all the gear out and starting something ‘proper’ has just dininished week by week. How can I get out of this funk?

Went to an antiques centre yesterday and it was very good, really interesting stuff. Also picked up some great 12” records. A little clean and they all play really well (although the Vangelis one is ever so slightly warped).

Had a couple of Martika songs come up on my random playlist yesterday, reminded me how much of a crush I had on her circa 1988/89. She had a great voice too imo.

Fell down a wormhole of KPM library music. Amazing how much was used in tv and film and never realised it was the equivalent of stock images. Prisoner Cell Block H music also used by NFL Films, NFL Films music used by Channel 4 news. The links are amazing!

Picked up 4 great LP’s today st a local record fair. Prices are good at these, the buyers are also bloody ignorant! Elbowing, putting their selections on too if the box next to them so you can’t get in, not pushing the records back so too can flick through grrr! Anyway I did well!

I’m back, again! Although I never went away. It’s really interesting how algos work on various platforms, every other one likes to throw up stuff it knows is going to make me mad to try and get me to engage. This is the only one that doesn’t seem to want to do that. Lovely.

Having terrible trouble getting both the app and desktop to work. Managed to get on to post this through another link, but no images showing at all. Updated the app but app doesn’t load at all. Just bad timing?

Just back from an incredible couple of days in New York. Truly amazing place. Loved it.

We’re off to New York at the end of this month for the first time, we’re excited & also nervous about the sheer scale of the city. We have tix to the ESB, 9/11 museum & the Nat. History museum. We’re there for 3 nights, stopping near Times Square. Any tips so I can make it amazing for my wife?

Been along time since I’ve fancied picking a pencil up, but yesterday I thought I’d relax with some sketching. Bryan Ferry is cool as.

We’re in Bridlington today, dogsitting for Shell’s sister. It’s an interesting place, everybody seems to walk the same way, a strange leaning gait. The antiques places are excellent though, and I found some good vinyl this morning. Also, haddock and chips is bloody lovely here.

I decided my luggage tag is a little too passive aggressive so I will get a new one for next time. We’ve had this for years, and I guess it works as no one has taken my case yet 🤣

My signed @sparksofficial.bsky.social CD arrived today! The album (which is excellent) *could* be the number one album this week. I’ve got 3 copies now including the lovely white label - I couldn’t make the listening party, but went in to my record store and they had a couple of copies left. HAPPY!

Our downstairs loo is one of my favourite decors in the house. It’s filling up with random frames we pick up at charity shops and put cool things in that we like or hold a meaning for us. Here’s a few highlights!

I feel like these are my top 3 Roxy Music albums - so I picked them up today. This weekend I’ve found 4 albums, 2 12” remixes and 15 singles for under £30! Can’t complain at that!

@dawse.bsky.social - they were flogging these off cheap online because the newer version came out, omg it’s almost identical. And comes with a mod grip yay! I love how easy the 101 was to use and this is no different. I wasn’t even after one!

Been after this kit for years especially in this circa late 70’s box. I have quite a thing for the Ju188 after finding the photo of my grandad taking one apart in Germany. It’s a great kit, but I probably won’t build it as it’s all perfect and too nice for me to spoil 🤣 one of my favourite artworks.

I’m ashamed to say it’s took me nearly 52 years to appreciate how actually awesome Roxy Music were. So I picked these up today. Amazing!

Dan Tearle @retrodan16.bsky.social · 17/04/2025

Been after this for years, both mixes are perfect and of course Jewel just screams 80’s Channel 4 NFL coverage for me (not so much BBC rally coverage!) Can’t wait to give this a spin!

Two little charity shop finds today, Roxy Music being timely as I had plunged down a rabbit hole just a few nights ago and realised how good they were throughout. Absolutely loving playing records at the moment.

I’m basking in a bath of Mellotron and Moog Modular bliss. Phaedra by Tangerine Dream - and it’s not even as good as Rubycon (but close!)

Had some time with this lovely thing today, just messing around. @dawse.bsky.social only issue I had was sounds dropping out but only when hold button was in use. Strange one that but otherwise seemed great! And still in tune (although it does drift a little bit at the higher end!)

Dirk the Daring is finished! Well, pretty much; there’s a couple of bits to touch up with paint, but overall I’m happy with how he came out. 16” high, pretty heavy, but I think I got the colours pretty close. Yes there are print lines here and there, but I don’t care as it’s only for me to display.
