Yeah, not surprising. My mom does strength training, but you can't really build that stuff back up on your face.

i see greg is on a glp-1. not sure we're allowed to talk about how there's a glp look. but my mom has it, too.

Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away. This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will. In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you. President DONALD J. TRUMP

the threads algorithm is evil. i posted a non-tagged, non-keyworded post with a non-labeled picture of a 2-paragraph excerpt from book 6 of Dungeon Crawl Carl, saying the writing is not objectively bad, and over 100 people replied to me, mostly to tell my why I'm wrong.

i am obsessed with weird al's guitarist from the tiny desk concert. she is having so much fun and I want to jam with her and embarass myself.

Idk about you, but knowing Masterclass wants its applicants for a strategic/creative role to already be using AI... makes me less interested in Masterclass as a teaching platform. I can do every single one of these, but especially the HAVING IDEAS, without AI. Apparently that's now a drawback.

A difficulty with picking Blue Prince back up after a chunk of months: some of my notes have no context and I have no memory, so they mostly seem like the scrawlings of an unhinged person. Luckily, I remember most of them. Can't wait to find out about the rest.

020

Sam @retconning.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

Yeah, I figured that was a reason it even exists in yhe first place (weird to wait until 2026 to make it acessible). What's the definition of low-literacy people these days?

100

Sam @retconning.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

And yes, of course, for disabled/neurosparkly users. Totally! But I have a feeling the actual target for this is the non-thinking AI people. (linguistic tautology!)

Isn't the dictionary the learner's dictionary? I had print books, so idk, maybe cross-referencing isn't how people should learn? I did that with the encylopedia, too. I had to turn pages and remember the alphabet. All you have to do now is click a link. And that needs to be simplified more?

I went through that same thought process. "Did I just play the Voya— nope, DS9!"

100

Sam @retconning.bsky.social · 31/07/2026

i just accidentall played the intro to the DS9 theme on my guitar while messing around with improvising solos/melodies. i played the first 3 notes and was like... WTF? so then figured out the rest. this is the social media audience i thought would appreciate this most.

I've been using Threads a lot, but I've also been reading Dungeon Crawler Carl and not listening to the audiobooks and not loving the sound of s1 of the show, so I'm thinking maybe I'll come back hwre because gosh those people are toxic as heck.

my sister and I are trying to gather SS and Medicare info to move my dad to assisted living and it's near impossible, despite both of us being ok with tech. we finally got to a human and he's clearly dealt with older folks before. imagine when this person gets laid off and replaced by an LLM.

well, girl from nowhere the reset did a great episode about gamergate, even though it's probably not meant to be about gamergate at all, just online fan behavior. really captured the vibe, though.

Yeah, my movie buddy who's a big King fan also disliked IT (we watched together) so when he recommended Derry to me, I figured it was worth a watch. And it is!
