Stop burying models in supplements. Publish 2 papers instead: (1) the full model, assumptions & derivations (in a modeling journal) (2) applied, data-driven findings where they matter. Very nice new results by Guillaume Bataille (previous winner of best student paper). In his new paper, he derives closed-form solutions for a strategic, simultaneous harvesting in a predator–prey system. doi.org/10.1111/nrm....

Age/size-selective fishing (saving small fish and only targeting large fish) is used to improve fisheries sustainability. However, a new paper by Nao Takashina shows it can cause unwanted bycatch and fluctuations. Read more at doi.org/10.1111/nrm.... 🌏

"The biggest threat to tequila isn't a shortage of agave. It's a lack of bats!" A big highlight of the World Conference on Natural Resource Modeling, 2024, was Julie Blackwood's keynote address on new mathematical models of white-nose syndrome dynamics in bats to aid management decisions.
