I know the statistics for violence, particularly SA, lean heavily on men-as-perpetrators. Rape-culture is real. BUT I wish people (particularly cis women) would realize that any insistence that people are safe when around other women is an admission of extreme privilege. #Cornell7

I can’t do the obvious answer at work— capitalism makes the food system inefficient, corrupt, promotes colonialism, is unsafe, and harmful to human health and the environment—which is part of why I have trouble picking one of the other factoids in response to this question. #CapatalismKills

Often (at work and elsewhere) I am asked: if there was one thing I could make consumers/laypersons understand about our food system, what would it be? There are so many different options for things I WISH people understood. Wondering what others too answers about food and agriculture would be?

As someone who works in “sustainable” agriculture policy, I can’t emphasize this enough. We’ve had research showing that beef can almost never improve an ecosystem the way wildlife and/or indigenous management can. Healthy soil is awesome… but we need to stop using fossil fuels.

I hate that some people still use the argument that universal healthcare means long waits. When the average time I’ve waited for a specialist is around 13 months. And then of course I STILL get a several thousands dollar bill at the end of it all. Hello? How is any of this “better.”

Heard the geese 🪿 honking in the fresh rain clouds. They are back, making their long trek again. And for a moment I felt peace. Nature abides, folks. And nature keeps moving at the same time. We can too.

The cruelty really is the point. As a disabled/chronically ill person my quality of life and ability to give back to my community would be VASTLY higher if I wasn't dealing with medical bills and medical stress.

As a permaculture and plant nerd I believe seed saving/sharing and local seed development is essential: especially site-specific varieties who perform well with extreme weather events. We are living in a time of climate standard deviation. We need to to start cultivating plants that cope.

We need #Degrowth for many reasons. Enshittification and how it absolutely impacts every aspect of working-class struggles is a big reason to support degrowth. Enshittification also just happens to extra piss me off because it has an outside impact on disabled people.

All the pollution, destruction, death, and trauma caused by this fire season rests on the heads of capitalists. Never forget that people KNEW this was going to happen decades ago and not only did nothing, but purposefully went the other direction. If that's not evil, what's evil?

I really love reptiles. Birds and snakes especially. I admire those reptiles who spend their lives sitting really still in one place hoping something will walk in front of them so they can eat that thing. The fact so many reptiles use this strategy is so amusing and says a lot.

🙏PLEASE🙏 the Earth needs us to universally wake up.
Meme in the format of "c'mon, so something" with a abstract line drawing of a person holding a stick they are poking at the "something." In this rendition the person is poking an image of a realistic globe of the Earth with the stick. The text overlaying the top right says "C'mon, do CLASS CONSCIOUSNESS"

The meme is referring to the wish that humankind the world over would recognize they have nothing to lose but their chains against the bourgeoisie/pedo-class.

Without whimsy I'd be bed rotting in all respects, not just physical.
Image depicts a mock Pantone color tile, showing a bright algae-like green color with the text describing the color as "American Flag Blue."

The meme is referencing the debacle that is the US-American Reflecting Pool renovations done by the Trump Admin. The Admin did a $14.2m "renovation" of the site which included painting the bottom of the pool with blue latex paint that is now seen to be peeling up in big sheets shortly after the renovation was finished. The pool is now thickly green with algae. The Pantone color slide showing a green color and mentioning blue is a reference to this mishap and the absolute waste and negligence of this current government.

Pantone is an American company headquartered in New Jersey, and best known for its Pantone Matching System, a proprietary color naming system used in a variety of industries, notably graphic design, fashion design, product design, textile industry, etc.

The cognitive dissonance from "Make America Healthy Again" folks is something to behold. If you are MAHA and want to admit you've been duped, I'm here to reassure you there is still a way to be science-based AND STILL support human health and protect our soil. #TheOnion #Satire #MAHA
Graphic headline from the satirical publication "The Onion" depicting a photo of a small yellow biplane (like those used to spray pesticides over crops) with flames shooting out behind it over a monoculture row crop of green plants.

The title reads: "EPA Approves Use Of Napalm As Pesticide".

The subtitle reads: "Farmers May Now Treat Crops With Aerial Applications Of Fire".

The satire speaks to the fact that the EPA, even though they are the "Environmental Protection Agency" for the USA, keep approving pesticides and herbicides with a well-proven concern for human health and environmental impacts. The EPA is known for prioritizing industrial capitalist interests over other interests.

I’m seeing people who’ve denied my lifelong chronic illness now all becoming disabled (either from age or other factors, like #COVID). Some are getting empathy. Others still deny disabled folks are marginalized… while also being upset when THEY are dismissed by society & denied care.

My worksona has been saying for years that we need to switch to low-or-no input agriculture to have any hope of sustainable food production. Most folks don’t realize how many fossil fuels conventional ag uses. Now we are going to see the consequences of NOT swapping. I am really worried.

A beige background with two intersecting sets of rainbow-colored stripes (one running vertically along the left side and another running horizontally near the bottom), and a circle that weaves through these sets at the point of intersection.
The vertical set is all the colours of the intersectional pride flag (black and brown, then the trans blue, pink, and white, then the standard red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple).
The horizontal set is in disability flag colours (dark grey, red-pink, yellow, white, light blue, and green, and then dark-grey again).
The circle is the yellow and purple of the intersex flag.
Just above and to the right of the intersection, text in a typewriter-style don't reads, "It's not over till we all have equal rights." Art by @fibromyalgicaf on Tumblr.
