I actually wonder at what age Lalas just quit growing. Cuz there's that one quest where you give kids cookies and you give one to a lala that just... looks like a lala. So was it a kid lala? Or an adult pretending to be a kid to get a free cookie? LOL

My characters tend to be less "me" and more concepts that I enjoy exploring. Rere's concept is all about revenge and how far he'll go and who he's willing to become in order to fulfill his father's last will. Turns out... it's a lot further than anyone expected.

It was the first time Rere had met Venivodu Sozivodu in person and he was every bit as intimidating as the rumors made him out to be. If Kelza hadn't been there with him during the hours-long bidding war, Rere wasn't certain he would've been able to keep his composure for the entire event.

Though with women, at least in the one example we have, the family name is at the beginning of the name, as that's what happens with Nanamo Ul Namo and her mother Nanasha Ul Nasha. Full family name, full birth name, repeats broken down into the first syllable of each.

Almost everyone seems to have the potential family name at the end of their name, but not Cocobuki Lolobuki. The ONE set of letters that all their names has in common is "ob", which is also repeated in his courtesy name. It may just be a weird little one-off. There are no other examples of it.

Since Rere's part of the upper class, most people will refer to him only as "Rurunima" in polite company, and to call him by anything else would be a grave insult. Only close friends and other races who don't get the culture are allowed to call him Rerenima. Even fewer may use Rere, his birth name.

For Lalas, age 20 seems to be universal for both genders. Back to the Coco brothers again, Cocobuki Lolobuki is the only brother with a courtesy name, which would suggest he's the only member of the family over age 20. The Thaumaturge's guild is being run by literal children. Think about that.

Basically what I'm getting at is that family names are most likely gender-based and baked directly into their first names, and sometimes repeated in their courtesy name. Which is kinda cool, imo. Which means their actual name is whatever comes before or after. AKA Buki, Bygo, Bezi, Rere, etc(4)

It gets interesting, because if this is the case, then I'd also headcanon that lalafell lineage is entirely dependent on their gender. Some more concrete evidence would be Nanamo Ul Namo. Her mother was Nanasha Ul Nasha. Ul only indicates royalty-- perhaps the family name on the fem side is Na. (3)

Stick with me here. The best potential example we have is the Coco brothers. Cocobuki, Coccobygo, Cocobani, Cocobezi, and Cocobusi. We don't know who their father is, but let's assume for a moment that this naming scheme was actually intentional, and that their "family name" is Coco. (2)
