iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I had the idea to combine these two themes to pay homage to my favorite Ghibli film: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind! But bringing the universe underwater. I was inspired because I recently read the manga for the first time.

Mushroom + Shark Princess 🦈🍄👸 “Wherever the Kaunga roam, the Pale Reef spreads, purifying the wounds our ancestors left in the ocean. Species disappear, others flourish, and thus the blue world prepares for a new era.” - Hinemoa, princess of the Tidal Rift. #Sharktober2026

An illustration that pays homage to the Ghibli film: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. But with the elements of the film's universe replaced by maritime elements.

Nausicaä, here a small salmon-colored shark, wears a blue dress with a crab-shaped crest and a red jewel. She is on her glider, shaped like a manta ray, along with her little squirrel fox, which here is a sea slug.

From above, she observes the pilgrimage of the allegory to the great Ohmu, which here are giant crabs. There is a swarm of these crabs heading towards a lake of toxic heavier liquid at the bottom of the sea. Nearby, there is a large, deceased crab, sprouting coral from its body.

Here, the Toxic Jungle is a reef of gigantic white corals scattered and sprouting among the toxic red sands and ruins of the past.

In the sky, which is actually the ocean ceiling, jellyfish-like creatures float peacefully.

Lemonade Shark 🦈🍋 The refreshing, citrusy party of lemon sharks around the great lemon mangrove! #Sharktober2026

An illustration of a small, semi-spherical marine world of water, with a ring of water and bubbles and lemon slices around it. There is a large mangrove tree in the center that is also a lemon tree. Three small lemon sharks are swimming happily around the tree.

Dog Shark 🦈🐶 Carcharocanis familiaris, commonly known as "Shark Puppies", are your best friend from the ocean! #Sharktober2026

A large illustration featuring various "shark-puppies" of different shark species in a variety of poses. They are shown in curious and happy stances, running, sniffing, acting playful, and more!

Below the image, there is a description styled like a scientific species illustration, naming them "Carcharocanis familiaris". This name combines Carcharodon (the genus that includes great white sharks) with Canis (the genus that includes dogs), plus Familiaris to indicate they are domesticated.

I've been sick these past few days; I have problems with allergic rhinitis, which is triggered by sudden temperature changes, so I'm a little late, but here's the idea I had for this theme! Some initial sketches:

Ready for the beach trip? 🏖️✨

An illustration of Roberto's van, named Starfall. Roberto stands proudly and happily beside it, inviting the viewer on a trip to the beach.

It's a mix of the old Volkswagen Kombi design, but with five wheels, inspired by the design of the Mazda T1500 and Auto rickshaws (Tuk Tuk). The colors are cyan, white, purple, and yellow.

There's an illustration of a bright six-pointed star with a three-colored tail on the side. And a ladder behind it leads to a platform-type luggage rack.

The background is adorned with gardens featuring tropical plants and trees like palm trees, an urban lamppost, and paving stones.

This is Starfall, Roberto's van! I've been working on creating a 3D model of this van so I can draw over it from different angles when I bring the Waters Gone By comic to life. I've published the complete model on Sketchfab if you want to take a closer look: sketchfab.com/3d-models/th...

A digital drawing of a velvet belly lanternshark. The shark is blue-greenish and seems to glow. All fins are light blue. The shark is swimming a sharp curve with the head in the upper left corner and the tail in the lower left corner. The shark is surrounded by light bue, green and white sparks. The background is a very dark blue.

Bumble shark with bonus wooden standee 🐝 #art

An illustration of a bumble shark (bumblebee-shark hybrid), a creature that has the fuzziness of a bumblebee while retaining the body shape of a shark. It has six fins, a brown-and-yellow striped body, antennae, and wings. She is flying happily in front of lots of flowers pollinators love: sunflowers, lavender, carnations and daisies, in a little scene reminiscent of spring. Some colourful petals have fallen to the ground, and some very tiny bumblebees are also pollinating the flowers.

The same artwork made into a wooden standee.

Yes, Berto alone would be 2.90 meters tall and probably weigh almost 300 kg, so these vehicles are quite reinforced, hehe.

You're almost right, because I thought that in the world of these sharkfolk, due to the size differences between species and the absence of car brands, these urban cars would be modular and customizable. Previously it was Roberto's father's pickup truck; he traded it for a van shell.

Hehe, I'm glad you liked it! I was mainly inspired by an old find called a Mazda T1500 ~T1200.

I only have sketches hehe I'll have to explore this at some point, but there's plenty of room because of their tails. The driver's cabin is only big enough for a sharkfolk. Bertito is huge!

Shiny Shark 🦈✨ For some people like me, sharks have become a symbol of resilience and hope, like the glow of a candle. I couldn't think of anything very creative, but I also didn't want to overwhelm myself; the previous ideas were too complex. I would love a small candle holder like this!

An illustration of a small ceramic candle holder in the shape of a sleepy whale shark yawning, with star-shaped holes through which the candlelight emanates. On top of its head, there is a small sleeping remora.
