I was incredibly honored to be part of this historic legislative session celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and our state’s impact on the founding of our nation. To say the moment was special would be an understatement- the significance and history of this place, ..

Right now, politically active corporations are using their money to influence elections. This behavior is warping civic discourse and polarizing election outcomes. We introduced legislation to stop corporations from putting their fingers on the scale. www.pahouse.com/friel/InTheN...

The Senate Local Government Committee unanimously passed my bill allowing municipalities to enact a 180 day pause on data center proposals, an important step toward providing local officials with the breathing room they need to put strong protections into place for their communities.

As we finalize the state budget, it is essential that we keep our farms front and center and support our farmers not just in word & deed. My two farm bills with this aim have passed the House with overwhelming bipartisan support and the support of the PA and Chester & Delaware Co Farm Bureaus.

Every parent that sends their kids to college hopes that they'll be safe and look out for each other. We know that emergencies do happen, and when they do, we need students to know they can act to help a peer without hesitation. This bill protects those Good Samaritans so they can act without fear.

Healthcare in America is facing a crisis: access, rising costs, federal cuts, and a system not built for the world we live in. Pennsylvania must reimagine, innovate, and lead. Thank you to every presenter, attendee, and partner. This is how change begins.

Students from districts with vulnerable immigrant populations are dealing with the fallout of ICE detainments not only in their homes, but in their neighborhoods, at their bus stops, and near their schools.

Wisdom from President John F. Kennedy: "The stories of past courage can teach, they can offer hope, they can provide inspiration. But they cannot supply courage itself. For this, each man must look into his own soul."

Courage, compassion, and the fight for justice are common threads in our local heritage. Will we continue that legacy by fighting to protect the humanity and rights of our neighbors? My answer- yes, we must.

We must each do what we can to stand for our liberties and for equal protection under the law. Right is right even if everyone is against it and wrong is wrong even if everyone is for it." -William Penn

Apparently, I'm quite skilled at driving a sled pulled by draft horses! It was my first Feed Scurry at the #PAFarmShow and I managed to edge out several of my colleagues to take first place. It was a fun event that raises money for agricultural scholarships for PA students.

It is indeed time for moral clarity. ALL Americans, regardless of party, should be horrified by the President threatening violence against duly elected members of Congress who simply said that uniformed service members should only obey lawful orders. We MUST stand together against political violence.

Good news (by the pound!) from our June Shredding/E-Waste/Food Drive Event: At our event the community donated 1,200 lbs of food, shredded 9,520 lbs of documents, recycled 9,331 lbs of e-waste, and prevented 7,952lbs of CO2 emissions from being release into the air.

It’s all about creating jobs and helping new startup companies thrive in PA. My bill passed the House that would allow new businesses to sell their net operating losses so they have more money to invest in workers and equipment, helping them grow while growing a stronger economy for all.

My amendment would ensure that large commercial gas production could not happen on agricultural sites. It would place a limit on the constraint of the size of the digesters located in our agricultural and farming communities.
