I recently went to a community supper where I grew up and it was super sweet. I don't think I'd been to one in at least 35 years. Lots of overalls and suspenders

Yes I figured as much, I'm just in 'where can we make this thing not trash' mode and so much of the stuff is trembling on the edge of trash status

Repeating Cloud @repeatingcloud.com · 26/09/2026

Okay, but if you want a wall mount for a TV I've been sifting through the stuff left over at HR Distributors and there's certainly one of those

It's maybe just a notch or two below showroom-ready but I fixed Joelle's Casiotone CT-320 and gave it a good cleaning. This old champ has 12 sounds and they're all killer

It was cool to see the needle under very high magnification and surprising how small some of the what-all-ever-they-were fibers turned out to be

100

Repeating Cloud @repeatingcloud.com · 16/09/2026

I've had record players my whole life and never run into this. It was like a little vortex of microscopic threads got twisted around the base of the needle.

Repeating Cloud @repeatingcloud.com · 16/09/2026

The needle on my record player got just hopelessly gunked up and wrapped in teeny tiny threads that compressed air wouldn't remove. I had to put it under the big microscope at work to get these mystery micro fibers off of it

@ctsmike.bsky.social Have you seen the Albini tip about putting 6 panned delays on vocals?

110

Repeating Cloud @repeatingcloud.com · 05/09/2026

It was a judicious use at the right moment and going through a pretty significant shoegaze pedal rig. Did not have the whiney sound I usually think of
