Edgar Austin of Rollinsford courageously served in the U.S. Army during WWII. When his family realized his medals were missing, they reached out to my office for help. We were able to get his Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart returned to his daughter, Beverly Hanson of Barrington.

As Granite Staters facing high energy prices, NH Community Action agencies are seeing more people reach out for heating assistance. We must be taking every action to lower costs and provide relief. I'm working to increase federal support for heating assistance & expand eligibility to more families.

Fuel assistance is so important to New Hampshire families and seniors as we head into the winter months. I checked in with local Community Action Agency leaders on what they’re seeing on the ground as I fight to get more federal funding for this critical program.

James, a veteran from NH, had to come out of retirement because he couldn’t make ends meet. Granite Staters are seeing their energy bills more than double and have spent an extra thousand dollars at the pump and filling their fuel tanks because of President Trump's war. People need relief now.
Pappas’s New Bills to Lower Energy CostsThe LIHEAP Act would expand the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), one of the most successful programs aimed at reducing energy costs for working families. The American Homes First Act would increase funding for LIHEAP by redirecting $1 billion from President Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’ slush fund. The Consumer Fuel Prices Relief Act would provide federal fuel tax relief until the end of September 2027 by pausing the gas tax, the diesel tax, and the aviation fuel tax, while ensuring the benefit is immediately passed on to consumers in full.

Trump’s tariffs combined with record-high diesel prices are causing higher grocery prices and an economy Granite Staters cannot afford. End the tariffs. End the war. Make our economy work for the people.

Home heating assistance is a lifeline for many New Hampshire families and seniors, especially right now with high oil prices. I’m pushing for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funds to be delivered to those who need them now.

JEFF FROM CANDIA: ""I was injured on the job as a USPS city letter carrier in 2018. For two years I went without pay as my claim was being processed... The only reason I feel this issue was addressed is because I contacted the office of Chris Pappas who got me a conversation with a supervisor at the OWCP. My family can not thank your team enough as that one point of communication they got me, in turn, got me my life and dignity back."

Rhetoric calling for political assassination has no place in New Hampshire or our country — something we should all be able to agree on regardless of our political beliefs. We must ensure everyone can engage in democracy without fear of intimidation or violence.
"Rhetoric calling for political assassination has no place in New Hampshire or our country — something we should all be able to agree on regardless of our political beliefs. We work out our differences through the democratic process where we engage in civil debate and seek common ground whenever possible.

“I urge New Hampshire leaders to condemn the threats and call on social media platforms to enforce terms of use. Our citizen-led government is a model for the nation, and we must ensure everyone can engage in democracy without fear of intimidation or violence."

Granite Staters are feeling the pain of Trump’s reckless economic policies, which have forced them to pay $4,800 more for essentials. Yet this week House Republican leadership didn’t bring bills to the floor to address the cost-of-living crisis & canceled two more in-session weeks. It’s ridiculous.

Trump’s backwards trade war with Canada is bad for businesses, workers, farmers, and consumers on both sides of the border. I’m fighting to reverse course on his chaotic and harmful tariffs in every way I can, through legislation and in the courts.
"Your Administration’s escalating and chaotic use of trade barriers against Canada is putting this relationship at serious risk. Recent tariffs, continued threats of additional trade restrictions, and increasingly adversarial rhetoric are creating uncertainty for businesses, workers, farmers, and consumers on both sides of the border. American exports to Canada declined in 2025, while Canadian exports to the United States also fell substantially following the implementation of U.S. tariffs."

Brent's story is a heartbreaking reminder of what is at stake when research is limited and questionable practices go uninvestigated. I won’t stand by while the status quo allows manufacturers to market formula without disclosing risks and they try to evade accountability.
INTRODUCED: Baby Brent’s BillInspiration for the legislation
came from the Weymouth family
of New Hampshire’s First District.

Their son, Brent, was born preterm and contracted necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) after being given cow’s milk-based fortifier while in the neonatal intensive care unit.

NEC is the most common emergency intestinal complication in premature infants, a fast-moving and life-threatening condition with an overall mortality rate of 33%.

Brent contracted NEC multiple times, leading surgeons to remove more than half of his intestines. Now nearly two years old, Brent has been diagnosed with global developmental delay. On the legislation, the Weymouth family said:

“Brent’s life was permanently altered after developing NEC multiple times in the NICU. Naming this bill after him brings a voice to a struggle that many NICU families face. Parents deserve complete transparency about what goes into their babies' bodies as well as the power to hold formula and fortifier manufacturers accountable. Our family is so grateful to Congressman Pappas for honoring Brent and fighting to protect future premature infants. We hope to see Congress pass this into law. This isn’t a left or right issue but a moral one.”Baby Brent’s Bill would require the Federal Trade Commission to investigate, report on, issue regulations, and enforce penalties, including fines for deceptive advertising or marketing of preterm infant formula.

"Every parent deserves complete and honest information about the products being fed to their child," said Congressman Pappas. "Brent's story is a heartbreaking reminder of what is at stake when research is limited and questionable practices go uninvestigated. I will not stand by while the status quo allows manufacturers to market formula without disclosing risks, and we must stop efforts by those same manufacturers to evade accountability. I’m introducing Baby Brent's Bill because families like Brent’s deserve transparency and the ability to seek justice when they’re harmed."
