And, most of all, if you see a trans person or sex worker or immigrant with a gofundme, reskeet that too. Hell, donate if you can afford it. We'll need a lot of resources to get through these dangerous times. Anyway. Thanks for taking the time to read all of this, if you did. Stay safe.💙🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 Rock on🎸

Hell, even just reskeeting actual factual information can do a world of good. Maybe someone who's been misinformed can learn. And if you see someone repeating the lies, correct them. And if you see a politician repeating the lies, call them on it or vote them out.

Maybe you're scared. Maybe you have no idea what you can even do to change this cruelty. It's so big after all. And you're only one person. But you are NOT powerless. YOU ARE EXTREMELY POWERFUL.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Should you be angry? Probably. You've been lied to and people are suffering and dying at the hands of those who lied. What's more, they've probably made you complicit in the cruelty at one point or another. But it's okay. Dust yourself off. Forgive yourself. And learn.

There's plenty more I could say. All of these groups are marginalized. Many times, they overlap. In my case, I overlap with two of them. My point is, I want people who AREN'T in these groups to read this thread. Process the data. Actually think about what you've been told.

Both buyer and provider, in our current shame-based, heavily-policed system, are bound to secrecy by law and the judgement of peers, employers, and landlords. But one of them will face far greater consequences than the other if the secret gets out. Why is it the workers who face these consequences?
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
That really only the wealthy can afford to do it with impunity. And only the wealthy really have much of a desire to do it at all. And generally only the very poor are desperate enough to provide the service because, trust me, most of them would rather the rich just gave them the money, not for sex.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
And the majority of THEM are married and don't dispute that they technically have access to free sex. What they want is sex where they don't have to please someone else. There's exceptions of course. All sorts of people buy sex. That should be okay. But, we've set up our society in such a way...
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Furthermore, why do we blame the people with, again famously, no money? Why do we not blame the people WITH all the money who insist on spending it on sex workers? The stats are in, in this case too. The majority of folks who buy sex workers are wealthy-ish cis men.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
I'm begging people to deconstruct what they've learned, to think about it a little harder. The more we cling to our judgements, the more we harm one another. The more we harm ourselves too. How many times have you felt shame for your own sexuality? Has it driven you to do things you regret?
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It's well-documented that men in positions of power will promote ppl they find pretty over ppl they don't. So I ask again. Why do we put sex work in a different category? Why do we treat it as somehow more shameful than any other type of work? Especially when we all like porn. And that's normal.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Surgeons and morticians and doctors all work with bodily functions and fluids we'd prefer never to think about. Besides, sex appeal is used everywhere in capitalism. It's used to sell us cars and fast food.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Examine why you think sex work is different from any other kind of work. Is it the intimacy? Caregivers help ppl go to the bathroom, get dressed, and use their parts. That's arguably way more intimate than a quickie. And therapists spend all day learning extremely intimate things about patients.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
If our governments actually took care of their people, hey, maybe things would be different. But here's the thing. There ARE sex workers who LIKE sex work. And I'm going to argue that they should be allowed to do it safely too. Let go of the puritanical ideas you've been conditioned to believe.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The truth is, sex workers are usually disabled, trans, or at the intersection of multiple disadvantaged minorities who literally have no other work options available to them. Discriminatory hiring practices, poverty, and cycles of abuse all work in tandem. We all need money to live.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Sex workers are human. That should be enough to convince you not to engage with the hateful rhetoric against them. But, in case it's not, here's the evidence: Sex workers are not complicit in their abuse OR your corruption. The vast majority would not have chosen sex work, had they other options.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
They have to convince you it's the poor immigrants who are harmful. If they don't, you might start to care about us. You might not allow them to steal all our money in exchange for bare minimum safety. Hell, you might even think of moving someplace better yourself. It's all about control.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Why do you think they raised the visa fees this year? Why do you think they do next to nothing when rich foreign developers come in and buy up all the land in your area and build shitty cheap condos? Why is your government focused only on one type of foreigner? The poor, powerless kind?
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
So what's with the immigrant bashing? It's yet another attempt at controlling the hierarchy. Poor people, they think, should remain poor where they are, so that we can continue to exploit them forever. Letting the 'peasants' move around makes them impossible to use.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Here again, we have near uncountable data to support kindness over cruelty. Immigration is shown to be good for the local economy. Immigrants commit fewer crimes on average than citizens. Literally everything they say about us is wrong. We don't bring crime. We don't take jobs.
141
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Like most immigrants, since coming here, I've been a constructive member of society. I participate in local clubs. I teach art. I volunteer. I help cook and clean for my found family. But even if I didn't, would I not still be a person? Would I not still be deserving of shelter and safety?
141
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
In my case, I believe staying would likely have killed me eventually. But in ways that are hard to prove. In the 'death by a thousand cuts' ways. In the 'I can't afford to keep paying for treatments and food and rent' ways. In the 'I can't safely go to work' ways.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
And the limitations we place on them! Our governments are slow to acknowledge ANY of the myriad valid reasons someone might need to leave their home and move someplace new. It's not always as simple as "if I stay, someone will kill me".
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Why should it cost any money at all? Let alone this much? Immigrants are a famously wealthless, powerless community. It takes a lot of resources to even move, let alone stay. Most of us can't get decent paying work on top of that, due to prejudice in employment.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Our governments place exorbitant fees on them. In Australia, a student visa costs around $15,000 (with tuition included) and a partner visa costs $12,000. Even a protection visa costs $50, and on top of that, you usually need to hire a lawyer to fight for you to be allowed to stay.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
You cannot hold individuals accountable for the actions of their government or their people. We know this. And yet, when it comes to immigrants, it's always 'they're coming here and doing [insert bad thing]'. We treat them collectively as a dangerous wave without knowing the individuals involved.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Immigrants are people. That should be enough to convince you not to engage with the hateful rhetoric wielded against us. But, in case it's not, here's the evidence: People can't control where they're born. People largely have no say in what their home countries do.
141
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
You're no dummy. None of us are. We can all see it. It's unfair to pretty much everyone involved by design. They just don't want you admitting HOW unfair it is. So, support trans people. Speak up when you see hatred against us, whether it's a politician or family member. Vote out transphobes.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Our very existence disproves the notion that ppl can be BORN into biologically meaningful categories and assigned rolls accordingly. And people HATE that. They react with disgust and violence. Because the alternative is throwing out the entire system. But you already know the system is unfair.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
That's actually why so many sex crimes are committed against us trans folks. But I'm getting to that. Why do ppl spread lies about us? Why are they so fixated on making our lives hell? Well, if people can transition, they can change their spot in the hierarchy. And that threatens the hierarchy.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Ppl who creep on others in the bathroom aren't going to cross-dress and pretend to be trans to do it. Most creeps are transphobes, it turns out. You gotta understand the real reason ppl do sex crimes. It's about domination and enforcing hierarchies, not about getting off.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
'But what about sports?' We've been over this too. Transphobes are lying to you, repeating 'facts' that have already been disproven 100 fold. Trans folks don't have any biological advantage. None. At all. Again. Look it up. 'But bathrooms?' We're safe. Here again, the stats prove it.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
If we stop CSA, we eliminate the chance of getting misdiagnosed with gender dysphoria, what little there is. And we should be doing that anyway for god's sake! Instead, we blame it on trans ppl when the vast majority of perpetrators are cis men and our system does nothing but protect them.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
That fraction DOES matter, don't get me wrong. But, studies, here again, imply a solution. You know that thing people throw around where they say trans folks are just survivors of CSA? Well that's pretty much the entire fraction.
121
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Doctors are trained on this. Trust them. They know how to safely treat children. Besides, puberty blockers are used on cis children all the time. Why do people only raise a fuss when it's trans kids? The regret rate for transitioning is a fraction of 1%. That's lower than almost ANY other treatment.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Not only that, but, the earlier HRT started, the better the outcomes. 'But what if kids think they're trans and aren't??' Well, first, that almost never happens. Cis kids don't tend to yearn to have different bodies. And even then, hormone blockers simply delay puberty and they're reversible.
141
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It took decades for research to catch up to what they destroyed. But, in the 90s, we started doing studies. And we discovered that trans people have much better health (both mental and physical) outcomes when we're put on hormones and live as ourselves. Shocker.
141
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The argument that this is all in our heads was put forth by actual eugenecist psychologists who didn't want us to exist. They invented diagnoses. This was the early 1900s. Hirschfeld's (and others') research was already suggesting a physical explanation. So they burned his research. Look it up.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
We've been saying it from the beginning. We feel like we're in the wrong bodies. Well, here's your proof. We are. A trans man's nervous system is that of a man's. A trans woman's nervous system is that of a woman's. And non-binary people's are shown to be a mix. It's not mental. It's physical.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
There is much yet to be understood about gender and the human brain. But every single test and study we've done so far supports the validity of trans identities. Trans folk's brains take the physical shape which correlates to the gender they identify is. Yes. Before hormones.
131
Ren's Art @rensafe.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Continuing with my sfw account: Trans people are people. That should be enough to convince you to stop engaging with the hateful rhetoric against us. But, in case it's not, here's why none of that rhetoric should persuade you. Trans people are biologically trans. There's no other way to put it.
