A friend picked up Magic last week via Commander after a friend of hers wanted to play. Her and her husband picked up Fallout decks. Now they have Star Trek decks on preorder. I now woke up to a message saying “…I think I want more precon Commander decks…” UB really does have that juice.

There's one complaint about UB that I can't argue with: "Magic is a story-telling medium, and Universes Beyond aren't really doing that. It's just a bunch of nostalgic touchstones and Legendary creatures." This is huge. A great direction for the UB brand and something I can really cheer for!

He works the recipe fast and kinda by feel. It is a forgiving process, even though this presentation seems fast. He’s right about the seasoning. Take it to YOUR limit. The lentils will handle it easily, and get better over a few days in the fridge.

I made this giant pot/skillet of lentils, my first time working with the ingredient. I made WAY WAY WAY too much, but *omfg* are they delicious. They LOVE lots of seasoning, stock, olive oil, white pepper! I’m having a bowl with salt-baked chicken breast for lunch rn and it’s wonderfully rich.

All my homies sift bulk. Pauper and Peasant players will make fun games happen everyday with whatever is handy. I’m sad that we’re trading a foil in every pack for a 1:999 gamble. I’ve gotten so many cool foils in draft, used them in decks later, and it’s just gone.

Mild shame: I finally got the card mailed off. Delay entirely due to procrastination and being unfamiliar with sending out of country. It does seem a bit silly to spend $20 to send a playing card to someone. Happy to do it though!

D2D2 is an old way of playing faster games. It was never its own format. Essentially, each player has a copy of Explore resolve at the beginning of their draw step. If the idea plays well as a mod, then build decks and stress test it. Using one big shared deck is an option, too.

Your idea has as much merit as “Draw 2, Drop 2”. I think it could apply to any multiplayer format and yield fun/interesting gameplay, without engineering decks to thrive under these conditions.

Giving it a quick think on my drive to work this morning, and it seems like an interesting idea. The first major snag that comes to mind is that it could get tedious to track what mana goes away on each upkeep. Are you looking to make a broad modification rule, or a format with its own meta?

Did you draft Lorwyn? Not the new one, the first one. I did. Commander was still EDH and Doran wasn’t quite born yet. I pulled this foil, thought it was neat. It served me and Doran well, and I keep it as a reminder to me of how much fun was had. Nauctis drafters will never know Magic like this.

This is correct. 999 packs suffer for 1 to look awesome, and someone said we didn’t want those three slots in collecties so they were just taken away. This is not a direction for the products that yields more fun for our time or money.

I like format modification projects, because of how they can multiply the ways to play with decks we already have built. Often, they can modify several formats, with little or no tweaking needed. Who doesn’t like the sound of a little Nightmare Magic for Halloween!

Tested out my new “fourth edition revised” cube tonight. Tried a Solomon draft with the teen. Good fun: drafting process was interesting, helped him assemble a deck from his pool (I have the advantage of being alive when these cards were printed!) and played a couple good back-and-forth games.
