The White Sox improved to 71-63 after Friday’s 7-4 victory over the Twins, making some unique history in the process. As per MLB.com’s Sarah Langs, the 71 wins are the most of any team in history coming off at least three consecutive 100-loss seasons. Chicago’s unlikely rise from doormat to division leader has been one of the top stories of 2026, and between the Sox victory the Guardians’ 3-0 loss to the Royals, the White Sox now lead the AL Central by 3.5 games.

The Giants didn’t merely lose their fifth consecutive series. They lost a series to the Rockies, their heretofore helpless NL West brethren who, bless them, sometimes forget how to play baseball. They have been especially absent-minded during visits to San Francisco in recent years. The Giants didn’t merely lose their fifth consecutive series. Actually, this is the last one. Here’s Kyle Freeland discussing the trade. He and Senzatela have been together as teammates for 12 years, and they are the final two remaining players from the Rockies last playoff team.

Rockies-centric trade speculation.
A post from Jon Morosi: Ryan Feltner is an intriguing under-the-radar (controllable) starting pitcher trade candidate.

The Rockies are engaging with teams in negotiations more than at the ‘25 deadline, and Feltner’s performance likely would improve away from Coors.

Prediction: The Rockies extend not Hunter Goodman but rather Cole Carrigg. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/athletic/747...
Maybe it comes before the deadline, maybe after. But Colorado seems keen on building around their best player, not trading him amid a lost season. Goodman could command a franchise-altering haul, given his pre-arb status and monster power numbers. The will they, won’t they with Goodman is one of the most intriguing deadline questions, and how they handle Goodman could be reflective of how they view their young core as a whole. Keeping him could be seen as a vote of confidence that new president of baseball ops Paul DePodesta sees genuine building blocks. — Sam Blum

– The Colorado Rockies will be popular at the trade deadline. They are letting teams know that pitchers Antonio Senzatela, Kyle Freeland, Michael Lorenzen and Tomoyuki Sugano are available, as well as position players Mickey Moniak, Jake McCarthy and Willi Castro.

And there’s the asking price for Goodman. links.mlb.mlbemail.com/s/vb/h7WHhxQ...
But the biggest catch would be Goodman, 26, and not eligible for free agency until 2030. The price would be extremely high. Tweets and reports link him with contending and big-market clubs, with the suggestion being that it would take four players – at least one Major League starting pitcher and one top pitching prospect, plus a couple of position players.

We keep saying this.
“The best-kept secret in baseball is Rockies All-Star catcher Hunter Goodman, who is the best power-hitting backstop in baseball with 27 homers this season, including an MLB-leading 13 homers in June. He’s the first National League catcher since Hall of Famer Johnny Bench in 1970 to hit 27 homers before the All-Star break. But don’t believe the numbers are inflated because of that thin air at Coors Field. The dude has hit 18 of his homers on the road, the most by a Rockies player before the break in franchise history. Goodman has the ultimate reverse splits for a hitter at Coors: He’s hitting .205 with nine homers, 17 RBI and a .717 OPS in 41 games at Coors Field. He’s hitting .284 with 18 homers, 33 RBI and a .900 OPS in 41 games away from Coors Field. Overall, he leads all catchers with 27 home runs, 169 total bases, 54 runs and a .547 slugging percentage. Yet, when he arrives in Philadelphia for the All-Star Game, he may be the most anonymous All Star in town.
