We actively encourage vehicles whose drivers can't see all parts of their trucks to go into crammed cities where kids bike/walk to school. Someone gets killed, there's a few days of "oh now how could that have happened?!?!" and then back to it. Same fucking thing.

And in all honesty, I don't see who fills that void. I'm not even talking about kids who have a hard start to life in the first place. It's the rich kids. Left alone, more money and gadgets than direction. I know dads who don't give this kind of moral guidance to their kids. What would I even say?

But if you see someone else treating everyone with respect, that can turn it around. But who are these role models for kids today? Who do they have to look up to? Athletes, Artists? Sorry to say, but that ship has sailed. Politicians, clergymen? Don't get me started.. There is a void here.

So what *does* work? Imo, it's always role models. Role models (and some violence) stopped the racist chants in the stadium, not the club or the league, the media. You need people kids look up to. Problem starts in the family: If you learn it's ok to be mean to mom/sister, everyone else is fair game

Which they clearly are not. I have removed men (and a woman) from my cycles because I realized that "that's not fun and games, that's dangerous to someone". And yes, it took longer for me to realize this, too. And no, I'm not proud of that but we gotta talk about this and start somewhere.

I agree with everyone who says it should begin with language, explain the joke, come on, we all want to laugh, no that's not funny, really. But I have no understanding for "don't protect your daughters, educate your son's" as it puts up a false dichotomy of these two being mutually exclusive.

Ich weiß nicht, ob die Festnahme von Michael Bonvalot bei einer Demo der Rechtsextremen gerechtfertigt war. Auch mit einem Presseausweis muss man sich an behördliche Anweisungen halten. Ob die Polizei überreagiert hat, wird sich zeigen, weil er verständlicherweise klagt.
