On End Notes I see a tiny number at the end of a line. Curious, wanting context, hoping for more thoughts, I turn corners until I arrive at the book's final notes- Alas! "Ibid."

GMTK game jam time! Last year I got as far as some design docs and then slammed face-first into "wait, I don't actually know how to make onscreen visuals in Java" and didn't finish; hopefully this year goes better. (I still want to make "Loopin' Lupin" eventually, but, that's a later problem, eh?)

Have been playing Wynncraft with @hqchiunderscore.bsky.social and you'll never guess who is doing more damage to the bosses (hint: it's not me...)

A boxy Minecraft character strikes a ninja pose, holding a dagger. She looks back over her shoulder, wincing, at another character- this cat-eared character in armor is yelling at the top of their lungs.

Post-its of some of my more recent shenanigans- playing Vintage Story with my friend @hqchiunderscore.bsky.social, and then a couple from watching what my other buddy @redstoneguy10ls.bsky.social has been up to as well! My VS seraph has been having a time of it, eheh. The 1.22 animals are *brutal*.

Been doing some research into a melody I played back in band class and while I still haven't figured out its actual name, it's led me to a RABBITHOLE. Like... gosh, I don't have the ability to travel to New York to borrow Leonard Bernstein's old music notes, I sure want to!

my9games.com/s/f15df5d537... If I'm understanding right that these are the most influential games for me, I think this is as accurate as the site allows (it should be X or B2, or Pixelmon honestly, but w/e) There are three runners-up for me (dadgummed character limit...)

I've struggled with writing in/highlighting my books, but today I may have found a workaround. Spent a chunk of time this morning reading "Everything is Tuberculosis" by John Green and copied down on lined paper particularly good turns of phrase. When I get back to it, I'll need a second sheet, eheh

It's interesting how much speech patterns can make or break my immersion in a work. This thought isn't original, of course- can't remember the phrasing, but something like, "Even if they wouldn't normally do this, *how would they if they did*?"

Renai @renaiwom.bsky.social · 12/02/2026

I'm not sure if I'm ahead of or behind the curve on this thought, but... there's quite a few parallels between city gentrification and app enshittification. Just, the "IDs or no Internet" situation feels very similar to "my family has lived here for generations but now I can't afford rent".

Thinking about Superbowl ads... so many of these things felt like, "If you need to advertise, you're doing it wrong". Like, who DOESN'T know about ChatGPT/Google AI/Alexa at this point? Who doesn't have a strong opinion about AI already? Why spend so much money unnecessarily...?

October Rising Day 19: Book A sequel to last week's art- one of the library regulars is in no way about to accidentally make trouble. This is fine. Everything's fine. (They're gonna probably need to make Kenneth's desk bigger)

A tall, feathery dragon struggles to see past the large stack of books she's carrying. In front of her on the ground is a tiny dragon who looks up from behind his desk in trepidation. Behind both, and a bit further away, a large fluffy dragon drops his book in horror.

October Rising Day 18: Twisted One of the things I've always loved about Spiral dragons' lore is that an upset one will tie themself into a knot. Sky here probably has a pretty big predicament since she's got three knots going!

A Flight Rising Spiral dragon has quite literally tied herself into multiple knots fretting.

October Rising 17: Warrior Seaheart's charge was keeping the clan safe; he's now grappling with a world in which he was not, in fact, able to stop multiple tragedies from occurring. (the other dragons shown are named, clockwise from top, Summer, Leap, and Cardea)

A large blue and white dragon with gray-brown scarring lies, sadly thoughtful, among three statues. One is in front of him, a tiny butterfly-like dragon looking startled. One sits to his right (the viewer's lower left), a tall bat-like dragon looking at some sort of paper, and one sits to his left (the viewer's upper left, behind him), an energetic raptor-like dragon who's apparently just seen something she's excited by. The statues are all gray.

October Rising days 14, 15, and 16 Playing ketchup so, in order- Nicholas the Imperial is a schoolteacher, Tannenbaum the Nocturne is a tinkerer/toymaker, and Quincy the Coatl is a herbalist. Hoping to have another trio to post tomorrow!

An antlered dragon with a fancy cavalier hat looks self-assuredly at the viewer. Behind him is a pink halo made of arcane (gibberish) symbols and concentric circles.

A batlike dragon sticks his tongue out as he focuses on tinkering with the insides of a cuckoo clock.

A chubby feathered-snake dragon lovingly cares for some plants in a tall vase.

October Rising Day 13- Tiny Kenneth here is one of my clan's librarians... he's doing his best.

A small, harried-looking dragon behind a desk presses a book that's nearly the same size as he is into the paws of another dragon.

Day 12: Burrow Edward is always very happy to make a new animal friend! The bunny has... other thoughts on the matter. Which is fair, FR Nocturnes do biologically have to eat bugs/meat, but Edward has ethics about that kinda thing. No eating friends allowed!

A batlike dragon in ranger/scout gear gleefully holds up a bunny rabbit, which looks down at the burrow it's been plucked out of with a little bit of distress.

October Rising Day 11: Spell I like to think Virtue is a teacher you don't like having in class, but then later you find out she all but threw hands with the school board on your and the other students' behalf. It's a good dichotomy. (Also, I have plenty of spellcasters, but this's more fun to draw)

An imposing lion-like dragon looks sternly down at three hatchlings, one of her massive paws on a blackboard. There is some implied writing on the blackboard. The hatchlings are all sitting and paying attention, albeit nervously.

October Rising Day 10: Hatchling Gregory loves his daughter Peanut very much... but they've both been turned into statues for a while, now (heh, I'll do some lore ramblings on here at some point but now is not that time).

A statue of two Flight Rising Pearlcatcher dragons. The larger one is curled around the smaller one, his wing protecting her from the elements, and is looking down at her with a soft smile. His other wing is over his pearl. The smaller dragon is curled around her own pearl, which is bigger than she is; she's fast asleep.

October Rising Day 9: Thread There were a few ways to go with this one, but I picked one of my tailors, Zenith. She normally does patching-up kinds of things, but here she's made something for herself... well, for her chinchilla, who may or may not appreciate it, ha! #frfanart

A black, white, and purple dragon in a purple, pink, and light blue sweater and white and blue wing covers pulls a small red sweater over the head of a chinchilla.

October Rising Day 8: Monster My dragon Hestia faces down a Fear Frog! Properly, she should have her buddy Rosewing with her too, but y'know, composition 'n stuff. I really love how this one came out- the shading was real fun! #frfanart

A feathered dragon, elegantly dressed and wielding a flaming sword faces down a giant frog monster with a flaming fist. They're both deeply in shadow, the only light coming from their respective flames.

Tarragon here is banned from the community kitchens for good reason; their sense for what makes a good recipe is... not to everyone's taste.

A fluffy dragon focuses intently on their cooking- specifically, cutting slices from the end of a book! On the counter sits a mixing bowl and a variety of fruits- a durian, a tomato, a dragonfruit, a pumpkin, a Buddha's Hand, an eggplant, and a coconut.

A bit of an aside... I don't appreciate how AI has made it so I have to post-process my art before posting nowadays. I miss being able to just like, yeet my stuffs on Discord as soon as the last brush stroke was down. At least the four-hour time cost means I double-check things a little bit better.

Jasper is a kindly old dragon, and as Snapper dragons are nomadic, she's been lots of places and has lots of stories! The smaller dragon isn't anyone in particular, I just happened to get some Nocturnes in my last batch of hatchlings and they're pretty fun to draw.

A kindly old snapping turtle/alligator-like dragon tells a story of a tall, cloud-shrouded tower to an eager young batlike dragon.

This character limit takes some getting used to. Anyways, Echo was supposed to be my story's big-bad, but then I was looking at her stats and it turns out she's got the "always hatchling size" bug so she's a smol-bad instead. This is how my lair's first two Gaolers joined; they were summoned!

A small, komodo-dragon like dragon stands on her hind paws, hands/paws out to the sides as she cackles in a "Rise, my creation!" sort of way. The large cauldron she's in front of has smoke rising from it that's forming the shape of a long-furred lion-like dragon's head, horns, and mane.

What I got done on the 4th vs. the end drawing that I'm actually somewhat happy with. Elliot here's a prosthetician, and he loves his kitty very much. This sketchbook style takes like... an eighth of the time for me to render as the full smooth lines/shading version, so is good for catching up.

A mouse-drawn sketch of a Pearlcatcher dragon with a smiley-faced cat on his lap.

A more polished drawing of a Flight Rising Pearlcatcher dragon with stunted wings. He holds a winged sphinx cat in his lap, one hand under its chest to support it while the other fans out the mechanical feathers attached to its wing via harness. The dragon has his tail curled around his pearl, which sits to his right (the viewer's left)

October Rising Day 3: Treasure It's hard going shopping when you're small, especially when the shopkeepers aren't! Shroud here is lucky in that he was just asked to get a hat, not a breed change scroll- those go for five *hundred* thousand treasure! Poor lil guy would have to do even more counting.

A purple and brown dragon with blue eyespots on his shoulders and wings is grumpily taking coins out of a pouch- the pouch is half as big as he is, and the coins are about the same size as his head. He snarls up at an outstretched red claw, "I'd like to see YOU count out 5,000 of these for a stupid HAT!" and then adds, more quietly, "That I can't even wear...".

October Rising Day 2: Portal Merlin has heard of the concept of self-preservation. He'll give it some thought at some point. Definitely after he checks out the pretty swirly thing, though! Nevermind that he's probably getting too old for this. #frfanart

A purple and brown dragon pokes his head out of a swirling, multicolored portal, a set of candles wreathed in blue smoke floating above his hand as if to shed light on the situation. In the background is another technicolor portal, and the rest of Merlin's lanky form can be seen on the other side of it- wings, tail, back legs, and a brown tunic.

October Rising Day 1: Mimic My dragon Prismacolor, being made of paint, can mimic anything she likes. She prefers Wildclaw form, but nobody is on their A game directly after waking up, ha!

A wooden bucket is full of paint, which is drawn into the head, neck, and forepaws of a dragon. Prismacolor is primarily light green and cream, with blue and yellow markings on the green and red and purple markings on the cream. She has a blue and yellow underbelly; all her markings swirl together into the surface of the paint.
The drawing has a brown background with a subtle gradient.

Did some art on Saturday and finally got myself to get it properly _processed_ to upload. Some of my gaming buddies and myself as Hollow Knight characters/vessels! (this Picrew was used in the design process: picrew.me/ja/image_mak...)

Three characters modeled after Hollow Knight's player character. The left one is medium height and has a red cloak, dark tinted goggles, and small horns, and is leaning on their nail like a cane. The middle one is tall with a long, raggedy orange cloak, raggedy white wings, a crown of thorns, and thin orange slit pupils, and is standing neutrally with their scythe strapped to their back. The right one is shorter, with a raggedy gray cloak that drags on the ground, raggedy wings, a bandana, and a little leaf on their horn-crowned head; they hold their nail in their hands, and they have a crack in their carapace that runs through their viewer's-left eye.
