For all it matters: no, Mees is not a villain with a tragic backstory but I couldn't get there yet. There was more to Manon's cannibalism and Virgil's whole fire thing too. Not to mention I couldn't even properly tell Avila's story yet either and I think the Cathedral group would've enjoyed it.

I would've loved to continue Noah's loop adventure (I was about to get to the good part 😔), the Cathedral mirror maze, Severin and Amy's story, Laras and Eko's complex (sibling) relationship, and everything else. I had lore expansions for Aymeric planned too but I guess that'll have to wait.

It's also important to note that I barely know a majority of you, so it's hard to estimate just how true to their promises everyone is. My point here is: I realized I couldn't keep going anyway both because of a lack of time and because I'd rather just have time for myself than potentially be disappointed again. I also think a lot of people just suddenly got a guilty conscience after yesterday so that's not a stable promise to me.

I don't think I want to entirely abandon this project though. A lot of things probably played into this ending like people having game fatigue, me being unexpectedly busy, it being summer break for many, etc. I don't hold a grudge against anyone and I hope nobody holds a grudge against me either.

Time-wise I think it'd also just take too long to finish now, so it's better to call it quits now and reboot it another time. If anything that'd probably be sometime next year though. Maybe I'll reboot it in another format or just try this again, we'll see.

I signed up for this and was willing to invest that much time from the beginning, yes absolutely. But I did not expect to be so blatantly ignored by this many people. There are 36 people participating. Some have told me they will be inactive due to certain events but others said absolutely nothing.
