I'm trying to push this double-subdivide box technique as far as I can...I think maybe it's kinda' working? Does anybody have pro-tips?

I've no idea what I'm doing... but I found out that if I'm extruding an octagon, I can take 4 quads and extrude those, then spam relax vertex, and it turns into a branching octagon loop... so that's useful, I think. Maybe?
