sorry.
hi all, I'm making a decision that I've been putting off for a while - I'm ceasing the Saturday threads.
they have been getting less and less traction over time, and it is unrealistic for me to expect devs to take time out of their day contribute to these threads without any real returns.
this does mean, basically, there isn't anything left that Reload is doing. it pains me that we are really just ending with a whisper instead of a bang, but there's been little activity here, and I haven't been able to dedicate the time needed for this place to thrive with my own development work and full-time job.
I'm sorry. I wanted to at least keep the Saturday threads going for the benefit of the devs, but I don't think there's any benefit to them, other than a weekly confirmation that we can't do what's needed for you folks.
Dedicate your time to more actively run places such as Debug Magazine, Indie Games Magazine, and even Youtubers like IcarusLives, Civvie, and Ruby Ranger and curators like Dominic Tarason and Casey Explosion. They love indies, they will cover them, in much better ways than I can.
I'll always be cheering you guys on. I love indie games, but I can't dedicate the time they deserve. I'm sorry.
love and frags,
Shannon

the future of Reload
Hi Reload readers,

Over the last couple months I've been going through our Issue 3 articles and I am nearing completion of the posting of those articles. I promise I have not forgotten - I have just been having a tough time getting articles out in a timely manner because several factors, mostly my full time job. I am doing my best to organise everything and I will try to sit down this weekend, get everything scheduled and out. I will also be sure to update our Steam Curator list to reflect Issue 3.

However, I don't want to sugarcoat things. This has been a massive undertaking and while I love, love, love Reload and what the mission has and always will be, I cannot promise I will be as present as I was. I will still do my best to retweet the cool things you make, I'll still do the dev threads as long as you want me to do them. But I can't promise articles, I don't have the time nor resources to play & cover the volume that Reload once had. It's been tough going this alone, I can't lie.

I heavily encourage you all to support other great mags like Fearzine, Debug, etc. - they love indies as much as Reload does and are actively working hard to keep up with your awesome escapades.

As always, thank you. I have loved experiencing the works you have created, and your feedback and support means the world.

Love and frags,
Shannon

Re: The Mag
Hi Reload Community,

When we created Reload Magazine, we did so with the hopes that we could shine a light on indie, retro FPS games and their devs, and create a strong community in the process. In that, we succeeded, and we’re proud of that.

However, sadly, we also have found ourselves in different places than when we started this project, and it has resulted in basically all of us being unable to continue working on the magazine in its current format.

The solution we have agreed upon is for us to post articles that would have been in Issue #3 onto our website, https://reload-magazine.net/. After this, a few of us hope to still publish articles on the site if we find cool games we’d like to cover, but there will be no guaranteed publishing schedule. The website, social media accounts, and Discord will remain intact, and Shannon (Major Arlene) will be running these. We hope you’ll continue to engage with us in those places!

We sincerely apologize that we couldn’t continue this project in its current format. We really, really wanted to, but it does not seem to be feasible at this time, due to both time and cost constraints. This decision was made after months of communication and negotiation amongst the entire team, so rest assured everything has been carefully considered in this decision.

We have surmounted an incredible amount of obstacles in the process of creating this magazine, and we’re proud of what we managed to accomplish with the backing of this incredible community. We thank everyone who has ever trusted us with a build of their game to be covered in an article, participated in one of our game jams, or supported us by buying one of our magazines.

We also thank all of the writers, editors, and leaders of this magazine, past and present. This truly was a team effort and would have never existed without the dedication of everyone involved.

With love and frags,
The staff at Reload Magazine

This Day in FPS History 25 years ago today, #Xatrix set us on a path of vengeance against a crime syndicate and its #Kingpin. Extremely brutal, with a host of profanity and a pretty banger soundtrack by Cypress Hill, it sure was an experience. What do you remember from the OG?
