The takeaway: our findings suggest a temporal progression from early, condition-specific sensorimotor responses to later domain-general processing, consistent with the two-step model of agency. (6/7)

Interestingly, classifiers trained on one type of sensorimotor agency disruption generalized to the other. This shared neural information only emerged later (~500 ms after movement onset), and suggests a domain-general process beyond early sensorimotor mismatch detection. (5/7)

But were these neural responses conflict-specific, or did different conflicts share common neural patterns? Using MVPA, we first showed that altered and unaltered movements could be reliably distinguished starting ~180-290 ms after movement onset, with decoding accuracy reaching up to 68%. (4/7)

Visuomotor conflicts were associated with increased alpha- and theta-band power over central and parieto-frontal electrodes, compared to congruent movements. These effects emerged early, beginning ~180 ms after movement onset and persisting until ~640 ms. (3/7)

Participants moved their index finger while viewing a virtual hand that either matched their movement, used a different finger, or deviated spatially by 14°. Both manipulations strongly disrupted the Sense of Agency, reducing self-attribution from ~94%, to ~2% and ~10%. (2/7)

Excited to share our new paper in Cortex! 🎉 Why do our movements feel like ours? In our new preregistered study, we combined VR and EEG to investigate the neural dynamics of sensorimotor conflict in an embodied Sense of Agency task. A thread 👇 (1/7)

Cooling down on the beaches of Crete after an amazing #ASSC28! Loved (re)connecting with this beautiful community and enjoyed all the talks and deep discussions. I had a great time presenting our new work on the electrophysiological correlates of the Sense of Reality. A big thanks to all organisers!
