i've been playing some other games and it's really a wonder for how much worse ff14 has gotten since endwalker and the graphics update, im pretty sure the dev team is also much smaller than it used to be because of what the content is like... it really makes me worried for evercold

i love playin ff and i dont think i'll ever truly stop playing, but dt has been such a miserable experience im not rly logging in anymore, so few people play during this time too ): and the updates for plugins have made making poses and such a miserable experience cuz the devs dont care about ux

these patch cycles have really been actively trying to burn me out of playing, it's so mindnumbing playing these post major patches because the content is so unfun in the long term, and it takes so bloody long for new things to come out, and when they do come out they're not even better quality too

i've done a bunch of boss design recently and i think i have enough material to make something akin to a boss rush game, but im a lil pensive about it, i have a pretty firm artstyle and combat system as well as story that i wana implement, but im unsure about the game engine to use, godot/ue idk?

man, being a developer in the past few years has fucking sucked as a job and job hunting, things have dried up for the role and it's super difficult to get into other things because of where experience is at... just got rejected from a job i was super hype for and am fucking devastated

010

Reika 🔞 @reika.pictures · 20/09/2026

efficiency isn't always a good thing, but it isn't always a bad thing either, it needs to be applied without detracting from the experience 🙏 but too many people can't see that...

000

Reika 🔞 @reika.pictures · 20/09/2026

ff14 lately with the focus on making content for everyone has been making content for noone, and it's continuing to get worse, so many new games follow suite, but i've recently played elden ring fully again, and that game is fucking special, it has its faults sure, but it nailed a fresh experience

100

Reika 🔞 @reika.pictures · 20/09/2026

it's been ruining games, like making leveling experience mindnumbingly boring to the point people bot it, making forgetable content, and cookie cutter stuff without giving new fun experiences, but also the professional side of things too, such a focus on efficiency rather than making a good thing

100

Reika 🔞 @reika.pictures · 20/09/2026

efficiency has been such a big portion of kind of everything for the past decade, i miss the times where the experience was what was focussed on and given unique care, i've been exploring a bunch of things that focus more on the experience and translating irl stuff to digital stuff 🙏 vtt coming soon

i feel this... after clearing umad, even tho i've wanted to play there's just been such a lack of stuff to do with so many people going quiet, i've kept up playin but even basic things like df are just so meh at this point... and stuff like posing etc has gotten more and more ass with updates too...

Reika 🔞 @reika.pictures · 12/09/2026

what's happened lately, there's been so many lewd lalafells around and it's disgusting... just get off my timeline =.= don't want any of that shit

all da bnuuys, i wana pet them all ;;

010

Reika 🔞 @reika.pictures · 11/09/2026

honestly? the biggest fuck up is making games for "everyone", it just doesn't work, the game will feel samey as other games, no niche means the game doesn't have depth, making a game run long term means you have to make some content that lets vets utilise the full extent of their skills etc...

it's harder than it looks yes, but it's also made easier if you follow certain conventions, but it depends on what kind of ui you're designing, i've been a dev for a long time and was one of my focusses for a long time :) if you have questions feel free to ping

i say this as someone who's got gatherer and crafter maxed, idgaf, combat relic should have nothing to do with gathering/crafting, and likewise gatherer/crafter relic should have nothing to do with combat

000

Reika 🔞 @reika.pictures · 28/07/2026

cmon man, why the fuck does the COMBAT relic need 12 TIMED NODES to get all the CRAFTED materials... the first step has nothing to do with combat, then there's what comes after and the 1.5k tome ontop fuck y'all who said the endwalker relics were bad. fuck you.
