Why this doesn’t work: you have to plan all the meals based on what your family members are willing to eat, then check the kitchen to see what ingredients you have on hand (and that are not expired) and which you need to buy to even make that grocery shopping list.

Record high temps every day - 100 degrees when normal high is 89. Immigrants building a McMansion next door put up a tent so they get some shade breaks

Some of the crew replacing my fence that was falling apart don’t speak English so are immigrants. They are working in horrible heat today but they stacked the old wood very neatly at the curb. If all the undocumented immigrants are deported it will be hard to get work like this done.

I want my money back. A little literary license is ok for a novel but “Wild Dark Shore” has one implausible event after another. It starts with someone washing ashore (alive) on an Antarctic island without a survival suit and a teen who regularly swims there with seals - also without special gear.

The bricks sat on site down the street from me for over a month before the builder could get brick masons to start putting them on the house. Deporting undocumented workers is slowing home construction.

regreader.bsky.social @regreader.bsky.social · 05/05/2026

McMansion being built down the street. The brick was delivered a month ago and none has been put on the house. A lot of construction work like this is done by undocumented immigrants. This delay indicates either builder has a problem with the construction lender or insufficient supply of labor.
