How do human large blood vessels respond to hypoxia? Paucity of evidence until large arteries & veins collected after severe lower extremity trauma reveal rapid, but transient intimal hyperplasia and adventitial angiogenesis from veins. @evborg.bsky.social @navbo.bsky.social rdcu.be/XyAQYUmiqQma

We have developed a new way of performing in vivo phage display screens by introducing microdialysis catheter into the in vivo screen to capture the macrocyclic homing and tissue penetrating peptides for efficient drug delivery www.life-science-alliance.org/content/8/5/... @lsajournal.org

Macrocyclic vascular homing peptide CAR not only works as drug delivery vehicle, but as a drug by itself; CAR homes to skin wound, binds to syndecan 4, which activates cytohesin 2 to activate small GTPase Arf6 to accelerate skin wound closure. www.nature.com/articles/s41... @natcomms.nature.com

In the FIDELITY trial of arthroscopic partial meniscectomy for degenerative medial meniscal tear in adults, participant-reported and radiologic outcomes over 10 years of follow-up suggested no benefit and possible harm from the procedure. Full trial results: nej.md/48Pkwww #Orthopedics
The image is a quote on a purple background: "Taken together with other evidence, these findings arouse concern ... with regard to the use of arthroscopic partial meniscectomy for degenerative meniscal tear in middle-aged and older adults." NEJM: Arthroscopic Partial Meniscectomy Provided No Benefit Over Placebo Surgery and May Worsen Longterm Outcomes
This study contributes to the concept of medical reversal, where widely used treatments are shown to be ineffective or harmful when tested rigorously.

Hot off the press! We demonstrate in Cancer Res that the αv integrin- and neuropilin-1 (NRP-1)-dual targeting iRGD peptide (in phase II clinical trials) reverses some of these tumor microenvironment features by inhibiting TGF-β activation in the tumor: aacrjournals.org/cancerres/ar...
