A cool thing about science is that the winner of a scientific debate is determined by experiments, not by people. In non-scientific debates you can “win” by convincing more people. Scientific debates hinge on making accurate predictions about observable phenomena.

I probably misspoke, taxes are too high on the people with the low wages. And taxes are too low on those who have/make too much. But there are millions of MAGA working poor who complain about high taxes without ever once complaining about their low and stagnant wages.

Clarence Thomas nostalgic for the time when he joined the court, before people were accusing people of “things”? He can’t be serious, his entire confirmation hearing was about Anita Hill accusing him (very credibly) of sexual harassment.
Screenshot of news article where Clarence Thomas describes how the climate in the court is different than when he joined.

I really think that every four to six years all elected officials need to be replaced with a random selection of new politicians. Letting people who WANT power get elected to positions of power is fucking dangerous.

Churches raise $150 billion per year in private donations. The money is out there. We just need to sell the public on the value of science. The more we believe we need politicians’ support to fund science, the more of our power we give to politicians to decide what science is funded.

Marge tells Piers Trump tried to cover up the Epstein files, even the government shutdown was part of it — and when Trump called her a “traitor” and her son got death threats Trump had no compassion for her and told her it would be her fault if her son got killed. 😳

In the Venn diagram of good people and Trump supporters there is zero overlap. You can’t support Trump and be a good person.

Yep, congressional salary and benefits should be the minimum they allow for others. So that’s $7.25/hr, no healthcare and no paid time off. I think we’d see immediate increase in minimum wage, universal healthcare, and generous time off.

Jefferson once said he wants friendly relations with all nations and entangling alliances with none. He foresaw the problem of entangling alliances. It’s a lesson at every level of life, never have blind loyalty to any group, person, or idea.

These data say younger people don’t think democracy is good. That may be due to them seeing the failures of our current democracy but it’s a dangerous thing to think that because our democracy is corrupted it means democracy itself is bad. I’d like to see a study on their view of capitalism.

Except he never repented, he concocted a lie to try to save face. But one thing a malignant narcissist will never repent, apologize or acknowledge any wrongdoing. That would be as far fetched as the guy who cares for the Stanley Cup just suddenly throwing it on the ground. They save face at all cost

Y’all realize they came up with this “no tax on tips” thing right after SCOTUS declared political bribes are actually gratuities, right? Once they legalized bribery by calling them tips, some genius was like, oh shit, will we have to pay tax on those tips? It’s extremely obvious.
010
RE:Reality @regardingreality.bsky.social · 14/04/2026
Bribes are now gratuities so this is the final loophole that allows unreported bribery to any public official.

There are limits for everyone to donate directly to campaigns. The emergence of PACs was to get around those limits. PACs are supposed to be independent but of course that’s a fig leaf rationalization.

Yep. There are efforts here at state level to revoke certain powers if corporations to make political donations. It’s very difficult since the Supreme Court ruled corporations are people and have free speech rights and that money is speech. Capital corrupts.

Don’t get me started. I can draw a straight line from how self-absorbed and self-indulgent US society has become to the loss of all ethics and morality. A society of self-centered self-important individuals can never survive.

Ask SCOTUS? I assume any foreign money is laundered so as to appear to come from Americans. There are plenty of Americans that support Israel. I’d like to go one step further and ban donations from anyone outside the voting district, e.g. no Texas billionaire money in Minnesota elections.

It’s not a coincidence that the left wing never has the same resources for politics as the right wing. The right wing is full of self-centered and greedy people who have dedicated their lives to accumulating wealth while the left wing are pro-social people that have been working to help other people

It’s not good when the largest Dem PAC represents the interests of a foreign country that is committing genocide using US taxpayer dollars and U.S. weapons and that continues to drag us into multi trillion dollar conflicts in the Middle East. In fact, it’s extremely bad.

Small towns! Are you listening Dems? You go to big cities where it’s easy to travel to, but where you already have majority support. Don’t forget medium and smaller cities and towns. People can be affected by seeing someone in person without the right wing media filter.
