Tried to boot Marvel Tokon on PC and it just gives me a black screen for three minutes before crashing 💀 Feelsbadman but tbh this is ArcSys' karma for outsourcing UNI2's PC port to Cyclone Zero; Sony gave them a taste of their own medicine... Anyway I'm just gonna cope, have fun if you can run ts

2nd/90 at Chain Shift. I wanted to make a concerted effort to win, and even though I didn’t, I played with no regrets. Randy is OD at the game and I was having fun even when I was getting ran back. Time to exhale and focus on my life, I’m proud of how I did in this three-month long bookend

Someone gets it holy fuck. Not everyone flies out to majors to get wasted lol

Shinobi (Former CoN TO) on Twitter:

With that, I do have one complaint and I do hope folks come together on this:

There has GOT to be a concentrated effort by people to have just as much BOTTLED WATER as there is liquor at lobby after parties. This should be a non-issue, and I'll be sure we uphold this at eclipse.

I know I'm getting older and more boring, but give options to those who don't drink or want to keep hydrated. Even when I made juice, I had options for those who don't drink. Maintain that same courtesy here. I love the lobby parties at CB, but I've seen myself drinking less.

First time taking an extra day to sightsee and hang elsewhere in Chicago when I’m up here for a major I’m exhausted but I had fun today. Just gotta sleep well enough for my gauntlet of tournament sets on Saturday lmao

But yeah, 7th/137 in UNI, my first major Top 8! Still have a lot to work on, but I’m glad I could represent myself well when I was able to relax and enjoy the ride Not too sure where I want to go from here, maybe I’ll write something up later. Grateful to have been part of the show for my friends

Final reflections for the year

2025 was a very tumultuous year for me: very high highs, very low lows, and a lot of important lessons learned along the way. I’m grateful that despite all of the whiplash and grappling with IRL shit, I can still look forward with some semblance of hope.

With regards to UNI2, I spent most of this year wanting little more than to perform well. I was able to put up performances that many found impressive yet I found bittersweet, but being so results-driven all the time really took its toll on me. It’s time to shift paradigms within this space and figure out how I want to give back to these games. If there’s anything I’ve learned through all of this, it’s that the joy of basking in glory won’t ever come close to the joy of spending time with friends and nerding out about fighting games and other shared interests.

My past self would be most inspired by top players, but my present self is most inspired by the people who create spaces for people to enjoy the games or make those spaces more enjoyable with the energy they bring. It’s that kind of energy that’s kept me motivated to keep being in FGC spaces all this time and brought me down to earth whenever I would get too stuck in my own head.

I’m not sure what giving back will look like, but I recognize that fixating on the grind isn’t part of that. I can look back and be proud of my improvement and accomplishments in the face of working through serious mental blocks, but I’m content with leaving it at that for now. For those of you who stuck by me all this time, I can’t thank you enough. Hopefully we’ll keep getting to smile together next year :)

Seeding for SOOP Super Tournament's UNI2 bracket. Quite a small bracket at 37 entrants, with a number of international players being seeded below the Top 16, including: from Japan: Mao, Rippu, Rocket, Sehara, Trista from NA: LuFL, Mooncookies, Rio Jin (tho idk if he's going fr), Silic0n

Taking a break from competing, don’t know for how long

As the title says. I was already planning to and my run this weekend solidified that imperative feeling. I’ll still play FGs, including UNI and I’ll still go to locals when I can, but future major planning is very much in limbo right now and netplay brackets might be cooked lol. Maybe I’ll change my mind in a month, maybe I won’t, but I’ve got things to sort out.

I didn’t feel confident in my prep going into CoN, largely because IRL matters were catching up to me hard. I came in doing what I could to suppress my expectations and lock in; I feel like I failed on that front but it is what it is. It’s important to experience things like this so I can grow from it.

That being said, the way I’ve gone about grinding games up to this point has felt increasingly untenable. My relationship with competing has been toxic for many years and it’s been so hard to look past extrinsics and results in that time. So I have to take it upon myself to take better care of myself and live life a bit more.

More than anything, I wanted to have fun with friends I wouldn’t get to see otherwise, and I wanted a sense of finality for myself given that I feel like I’m at a crossroads in life. In that sense, CoN still gave me what I wanted. I regret not being able to give it my all, but I’m content in knowing what will help me push forward in the long run. See y’all on the flip side :)

I would talk about my Slashback run, but the amount of friends I had who got renewed or heightened interest in UNI2 from watching me play was much cooler than the run itself The “C” in “FGC” is the letter that ties everything together, and I wouldn’t want to keep competing without it

Hey you. 🫵 Yeah you. 🫵

The one reading this. You’re about to post some shit you’re mad about, aren’t you? You ain’t gotta answer, I know.

But if you see this and read this far, post something cool you did in a fighting game you love.

Combos, commentary, art, hype, whatever.
