now can range anywhere from $5-11 (that I’ve seen so far) for the same postcards depending on location. When it was always in the $5-7 range, baking shipping into the price was viable but it no longer is. Unfortunately, Etsy no longer allows a handling surcharge yet still makes me pay fees (2/x)

I think London is the only other place I’ve been in where you can just hail a cab like in NYC. It’s just so much easier. The subway (or just walking) is my preferred option but sometimes it just isn’t feasible depending on accessibility needs. Helping my bestie with a stroller was eye-opening too.

in to take my grandma to her doctor’s appointments instead of taking the subway to her and just grabbing a cab from her place. Which then had its own challenges as then I couldn’t go in with her unless I could find parking. But I’d choose a cab over Uber any day if those were my two options.

You can literally just tell the cabbie what route you want them to take. I’ve never ever had a single issue with a cab regarding route or payment. The subway is great, but unfortunately not as accessible for elderly and disabled folks. As cabs switched from sedans to SUVs, I ended up driving

NYC cabs have fixed metered fares determined by the TLC Commission. They don’t get to set their own rates. And they are usually way cheaper than Uber or Lyft, including going to and from airports. People just liked not having to hail a cab and they did used to be cheaper back in the day.

Cabs in NYC were taking credit cards before Uber even existed. They started a pilot program in 2000, became mandatory in 2007, and by 2008-2009, all yellow cabs had card readers. And “toward the end”? 😂 just because some are green now doesn’t mean NYC cabs are gone. You can even e-hail them.

Amazon owns the vans and then leases them to the independent delivery companies to minimize their own liability. They limit fleet size to make it difficult for the subcontractors to unionize. And then there are the Flex drivers who often use their own cars, kind of like Uber. No direct employees.

If shipping charges ever look off, you can always shoot me a message and I can take a look. And if there are ever shipping overages (ie. when not also purchasing an item w/ free shipping), I’ll always refund the overages if they are more than $1 (it’s very time consuming and this is for my sanity).

The other issue with the way Etsy’s system is set up is that it would affect my ability to choose the best carrier as I would have to use your selected carrier, when it’s often cheaper to send items over 1lb via FedEx and UPS, especially to those of you further away.

As such, I think for now, I will leave postcards as is, but adjust rubber stamps and possibly sticker sheets to charge for shipping. As always, if you order any free shipping item along with anything that has a shipping charge, I will refund the shipping charge if I’m able to ship them together.

I am playing around with adding shipping charges to certain PTV items and reducing the item prices. Unfortunately, Etsy’s customer interface has not updated to reflect Ground Advantage and automatically puts anything over 1lb as Priority Mail, which is a lot more expensive.

I didn’t pay attention to any polling for these races but I’m glad we won Wisconsin even if we didn’t get to flip MTG’s House seat. There are many more opportunities to flip House seats than there are WI Supreme Court seats!!! Good work, #PostcardsToVoters crew!!

What you seem to be looking to do would require districts to be split and not contiguous. Cherry-picking the bigger cities out of their counties to create a third Dem seat: gerrymandering. The Founding Fathers knew there wasn’t ever going to be a perfect way to achieve exact representation…

If there are 7 million people in a state with one county that has close to 900k people, maybe you shave some part of that county off into another district but it should by-and-large be its own district and not split into parts of four different ones. Follow the math.

The point is for districts to be as fairly drawn and not gerrymandered— don’t divide up counties when possible (certainly not into four separate districts if the population total doesn’t require it, and don’t look at the voting history or anything other than the population totals.

The only way for House seats to truly match a state’s population is to eliminate districts entirely, and just have people vote for a party and then divide seats based on that percentage. But then one could argue lack of representation by not voting for specific elected officials.

That’s not the issue at hand though. We are looking to stop mid-cycle redistricting. I don’t think there is any reasonable way to redraw the maps that would get an increased number of Dem seats, and certainly not mid-cycle, ie. the issue at hand. It’s not about matching representation right now.

Hoosiers, please contact your lawmakers to let them know you are against mid-cycle redistricting - the old map already wasn’t representative. Dems currently have 22% of congressional seats but represent approx. 40% of the vote.
