come on guys! The Wolverine game was actually pretty good, all things considered! ...whoops, wrong one

The title screen of X-Men Origins: Wolverine (the PC version). Just finished it and the old God of War formula is honestly a decent fit for the character. Not the most complex game but it works here, and you have enough options to keep from getting tired. Level design is usually passable but not much better. The story... was not going to be better under the circumstances. Maybe a bit overrated by its loudest proponents but a reasonably fun time.

Just completed Maken X. Messy, kinda frustrating sometimes, does not come together at ALL on the story front. Still an engaging play regardless. Not sure I'd recommend it per se but I'd love to see someone else take a more considered stab (heh) at it thematically. (More thoughts in alt text.)

Art for the game Maken X, depicting art of several characters in a purple void. Fun fact, all the character designs were done by Kazuki Kaneko of Shin Megami Tensei fame, and a lotta other folks who worked on this game also worked on or would work on that series.

More extended thoughts - the whole game revolves around posession, being in bodies that aren't your own. Someone else running with that idea could bring something with more thematic resonance. Maken focuses more on the whole "pick a side" thing that SMT does but I don't think it's very well executed. Characters and concepts are pretty thin and aren't well explored. I'm sure the genuinely terrible dub didn't help but I also doubt there was much depth originally.

Gameplaywise? Its not the most elegant game, but its a first person title with a single analog stick. Works well enough for that, though I REALLY wish Lockon range was extended a bit, or that there was really any method of switching targets. Could be quite frustrating at times due to the total lack of mid-level checkpoints, so I just savestated to work around it. No strong thoughts on the levels themselves, the cramped corridors can lead to some dull back-and-forth hallway duels and there's an occasional annoying gimmick (i.e. the sentries in the amazon stage). Fine overall.

Thank you for your continued support and advocacy for Ludovic’s release. It’s beautiful to see how loved and supported he is by his community.

Unfortunately, Ludovic was moved from Baltimore, MD to an ICE detention center in Louisiana. His lawyers were not properly notified of the transfer.

What happens next:
His lawyers’ top priorities will be fighting to bring him back home to Maryland. We remain hopeful for his safe return and appreciate everyone’s support as we navigate the next steps.

How you can help:
1. Continue to donate and share Ludovic’s story with your community. At this time we are NOT seeking media/news engagement but DO want as much community support as possible.
2. We are looking to leverage any connections Ludovic’s community has with elected officials. If you can connect us with any public officials, please message us with that information.

ICE wants us to panic and lose faith. For Ludovic, we will not break and instead we will hold strong and out-organize.

Update from the campaign:

Update February 18 - Thank you to everyone who has helped! With your generous contributions we were able to pay the initial retainer and first round of legal fees. It looks like these funds arrived just in time. Hopefully this will prevent Ludovic from being transferred to a more distant facility and work towards his release. There is still so much to do to help Ludovic, but this campaign has been a much needed source of hope for those of us working towards his release.
I personally thank you all with every ounce of my heart and soul and I know many others feel the exact same.

while I resist the urge to Anxietypost, I've been playing Three Hopes (again, sort of). Not the BEST Warriors game maybe but I love the whole aspect of commanding your units - would honestly love to see that in a mainline Dynasty or Samurai title.

I have been drawn yet again into playing Three Houses to finish the last major route I haven't completed, so I've been trying to use the Golden Deer's characters mostly on this run. ...I do not like this guy. And I do not see that changing.

If i had a nickel for every game where I used the male PC then finding the story and themes better suited the female PC after finishing I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird it's happened twice

The default female Hunter in Marvel Midnight Suns. Probably the intended player character? Much of the story revolves around the conflict with her mother, the demon Lilith. Been a while since I played the game but I do recall her seeming like a better fit.

Female Byleth from FE3H. She has a literal goddess in her and another character intends to use her as a vessel for that goddess, who is her mom.
Also not connected but F!Byleth is mechanically better than M!Byleth, thanks to an extra free unit recruitment and some useful skills and classes, like darting blow from one of the Pegasus classes.

Looks like this is our last night with Musubi, our foster cat since last May. She's off for a stay at a pet store tomorrow and, if she's not adopted, will get moved to another store or foster after a while. Maybe us, maybe not. No matter what, we'll miss you, Mumu. Love you. ❤️
