My view of football has never really recovered from reading his book. I’m not sure it ever will.

I , like many , have not paid her close attention but I did listen to her Desert Island Discs. Beside the fact it was premature she came across as shallow , vapid and over rehearsed. A product of policy wonkery more than life perhaps .

I got dancing with a girl down the front of a GPR gig at Cardiff Uni. 78 ? A dancy snoggy couple of hours. One of those bells as the song goes. Wouldn’t have happened at a Clash/Damned/Jam concert. Perhaps therein lies the difference

I still have Howlin’ Wind and you’ve picked out the best track. They were a great live band at their peak and always pulled in a mixed crowd

In truth we barely understand human intelligence before we even start applying our own bizarre logic to dogs. Grew up with collies , they’ve been bred to obey orders. Afghans were bred to hunt in packs at distance from humans and decide themselves when to kill. This basically explains the breeds.

I don’t own a conservative shadow minister but I do own an Afghan hound. 90% aloof 10% daft. Completely oblivious to any form of instruction which many mistake for stupidity. Loyal but don’t try to please you. Insanely fast when they can be arsed. Strong prey drive. Act like they own the world

This is the quiet power of @memorialdevice.bsky.social . Like minded people tend to turn up in unusual places. A council CEX in knew in Merseyside was big mates with Jayne Casey. Lots of councils are homes to highly intelligent waifs and strays that find a good home and do good work

Many senior public servants I came across in Greater Manchester were of the original factory scene - JD/NO , ACR , Durutti, many huge Fall fans. This generation of officials has slowly been replaced by Smiths, Roses , HMs . These are the ones in power now. This is an undercurrent to Andy’s rise

Time narrows and widens doesn’t it. The long 19th century (1789-1914), the short 20th century (1914-1989) to historians against Einstein’s theories of time being relative. Maybe it’s faster and more relative when you are young yourself? Mind bending

I read Fred Vermorel’s ‘ Dead Fashion Girl: A situationist detective story’ a few years back. Reveals a world in the 50s that most people would associate with the 60s. Smashie and Nicey repackaged 60s history can obscure
