Built the Rolls feature in Reelight because I kept editing single photos when I really wanted to edit afternoons. 10 photos, one film stock, one tap. The frames stay distinct, the look stays consistent. Like handing your film to a lab and getting back a coherent set.

Reelight has no account system. Not "optional account" — none at all. You don't need to be a user. You need to be a person with a photo. The app processes it locally and gives it back to you. There's no logged-in vs logged-out state to manage.

Some "film" apps upload your photo to a server, run the math there, send it back. Convenient. Also: your photo on someone else's disk, possibly logged. Reelight runs every pixel on your phone's GPU. Zero photos uploaded, ever.

6:42 PM. Late spring. The sun behind the building across the street, edging the windows. You raise the phone. Without a stock chosen, it's a photograph. With Ektachrome 100, it's a postcard. With Tri-X 400, it's a memory. With CineStill 800T, it's a mood. Same light. Different decade.

"It's just a LUT" — sort of true, mostly wrong. Here's what's actually under a Reelight film stock: (a) Tone curve — characteristic curve of the original film, how it maps light → density. Roll-off in highlights, foot in shadows. Per-channel, not luma.

Stock no. 11 — CineStill 800T. Tungsten-balanced motion picture film, the remjet layer stripped, repurposed as still stock. Made for indoor cinema light; everyone fell for what it did outdoors at night.

Aerochrome is the most fun stock in Reelight. It was originally an infrared film used for military reconnaissance — turns green foliage pink, sky deep blue. Now it's a finger-tap away on your phone. The world looks completely wrong, in the best way.
