#RandomGameSaturday Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing with Banjo-Kazooie (X360/PS3/PC) What a mouthful! This felt like SEGA’s true first attempt to make a Mario Kart competitor. And it’s good! The sequel game refines the gameplay further. Also, Banjo is in more racing games than 3D platformers. Hmm.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing on Xbox 360. This is part of the “Family Games” line of titles.

#RandomGameSaturday Kirby Tilt ‘n Tumble (Game Boy Color) Tilt and flick your GBC system to help Kirby take down King Dedede! This was one of my first portable games. The GBC’s lack of backlight makes it challenging to play, so I recommend using modern hardware for the best experience.

#RandomGameSaturday Donkey Kong Bananza (Switch 2) This is a 10/10 masterpiece. Nintendo created a fully destructible love letter to 3D platformers and DK… yet it has not sold a ton of copies, one year later. Bananza is required playing for everyone! It’s a technical marvel, and a lovely journey.

#RandomGameSaturday Elebits (Wii) A Wii launch-window title, Elebits has you exploring a house to find all of the titular creatures. Use the Wii Remote’s pointer to fling furniture and other objects around. Maybe you’ll go outside, too… I had a blast when this released. It’s a bit basic, but fun.

#RandomGameSaturday Speed Punks (PS1) / Speed Freaks A highly underrated PS1 kart racer. The characters look unusual, but the gameplay is very good. The music slaps, the boost mechanic is unique, and there’s a few secrets to find. The game released very close to CTR, so it was mostly ignored.

#RandomGameSaturday MOTHER 3 (JP GBA) The successor to EarthBound went in a different direction. No more eating hamburgers out of trash cans in a modern world. MOTHER 3 is an experience of a society that faces change. The oddball humor is still there, but the themes are more mature. It’s a banger.

I watched The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in theaters on opening day last week. If you are a fan of the Mario universe, then you will enjoy this smooth ride. It doesn’t take any chances and lacks a message — but the film is a visual and musical treat regardless. Fox has all of the best parts!

#RandomGameSaturday Kirby Planet Robobot (3DS) Arguably the best 2D Kirby title, Planet Robobot has everyone’s favorite super tough pink puff controlling a mech in select levels. It’s cool! There are some incredible boss fights. This is where the series got serious about cinematic/dynamic battles.

#RandomGameSaturday Cave Noire (JP Game Boy) from Konami Cave Noire is pretty crazy. It’s an addictive rogue-like dungeon crawler with a bunch of different missions. This is a must play on GB. It’s a shame that it had no worldwide release, but can be easily played even without knowing Japanese.

#RandomGameSaturday Marvelous: Another Treasure Island (Super Famicom, JP only) From Nintendo comes a mixture of Zelda and point-and-click adventure gameplay. It is very unique. Eiji Aonuma directed the game. He would go on to become to director for the Zelda series starting with Ocarina of Time.

I had the pleasure to catch a screening of 'Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie' this weekend. Just like the show itself, the movie is hilarious. I don't laugh often during films, but this one made me chuckle more than a handful of times. The audience also seemed to enjoy the experience as well!

#RandomGameSaturday Super Mario RPG (SNES) It is the only one just for me. When I play the game, I get lost in a phase. Then I find out I'm stuck in Geno's Maze… I recall begging my mom to let me buy this game when I was younger. I didn’t get to experience it until the Wii’s Virtual Console.
