Most interesting part of this story is DSA has only $4.7 mil in assets meaning that a large gift could do an incredibly outsized amount of good, as opposed to donating that money to Democrats. Surprising to me no rich Hollywood lefties are writing big checks to DSA. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/09/n...

Join us for Hallowzine Distro Nite at the Moorhead Public Library on Wednesday, October 28th from 5-8pm to launch the next issue of The Northern Mirror. We'll have activities, prizes and a winter item drive. We know it's a weeknight, but costumes encouraged!

We're inviting other printmakers, artists and activists to bring their surplus prints, posters and zines to give away. We welcome folks to display QR codes and links for donations and social media info. It's not a selling opportunity, but it's a chance to get materials to the community. This will also be a great way for organizations to distribute flyers for November events!

Have free-to-distribute materials or winter item donations, but can't make the event? Get in contact with us ahead of time to drop things off with us.

Please share this information with others who might want to participate. The more the merrier! Hope to see you there. Let us know if you have any questions.Fun digital graphic with jackolantern lookin creeps dancin with shit. The colors are yellow-orange, aqua and black.

TNM Issue No. 15 - Call for Entries!

NOW ACCEPTING: ALL creative media!
Visual art - illustration, photography, craftwork.
Written work - poetry, prose, essays, and articles.
Audio/video - film, music, performance.
F-M community resources and information.

THEME: Bringing Everyone Along

It means including folks with disabilities, chronic illness and mental illness. It’s meeting people where they are, while addressing problems with liberals & reformists. Tolerance and acceptance while maintaining boundaries. Anti-isolationism. Active listening. Choosing to attempt conflict resolution by meeting in person (it'll probably take multiple sessions). Acknowledging mistakes and hypocrisy. Granting and accepting apologies. Doing the worksheets, diary cards, journal entries, whatever. Neighborhoodism. Making casseroles. Adventures in daily disabled living (Choose Your Own Adventure style?).

There are billboards in the Midwest that now say, “I voted for Trump. I made a mistake. I'm sorry!” There’s a sign that says “Old Glory” next to an American flag, sponsored by the local gun club, as if the flag isn't its own sign of violence in itself. It was something of a redundancy.
...Ya’ll, what do we do about the rural/urban divide??? How do we abolish car culture when the entire country is obsessed and our cities are barely walkable? How do you still get away with working from home, Janice? How do you stop data centers? How do you make people care enough to change?

SUBMISSIONS DUE: 09/30/25 11:59pm - Tuesday, September 30th, 11:59pm.

Starbucks Workers United @sbworkersunited.org · 25/08/2026
🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:
BOYCOTT STARBUCKS is written inside a zig-zaggy speech bubble against crumbled paper. Beside it are the Starbucks Workers United logo and an image of a coffee cup being poured out.We, the 12,000 and growing members of Starbucks Workers United, call on everyone who stands with working people to boycott Starbucks until they finalize a contract with union baristas and stop union-busting.
What we’re fighting for is simple: a minimum $17/hr wage, enough hours to live on, better staffing in our stores, and basic workplace protections. Every year, our living costs rise but our wages don’t keep up – a growing pressure many American workers are feeling as corporate greed accelerates unchecked in our country.
Starbucks is banking on customers' blind loyalty to the integrity and values this company once stood for in order to keep squeezing them for profits. At a time when working-class people across the country are struggling in a challenging economy, it is no longer possible to be both a Starbucks customer and in support of workers; choosing to spend money at Starbucks is choosing a law breaking corporation over the baristas who make your coffee everyday exactly as you ask for it.
Starbucks has violated U.S. labor law more than any other company in modern history–the NLRB and its judges have found that Starbucks committed hundreds of labor violations and there are currently more than 550 unresolved unfair labor practice charges still pending against the company. Instead of finalizing a fair and reasonable union contract, Starbucks has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of care for the workers who fuel the company’s profits by wasting millions of dollars on AI and technology that doesn’t work, launching countless gimmicky drinks designed to distract from real problems, and inventing pointless policies that do nothing but make our jobs harder.
This ongoing, irrational behavior by Starbucks and its refusal to settle a fair union contract with workers leaves us with no other choice than to call for a boycott. We know when working people stand up together, we win.
No Contract? No Coffee.

Socialists’ Winning Streak Is an Opportunity for Unions
Socialists are on a roll in elections across the US, often winning without the support of organized labor. It’s high time for unions to get on board with socialist candidates, to make the most of having ambitious pro-worker politicians in their corner.
