I meet new people at every WordCamp that I want to follow up with and reconnect with after every event, but I find it difficult. Sometimes I forget I met someone, or I already connected with them through LinkedIn or X. Any tips?

Question for WordCamp attendees. How do you manage connections with new people you met through WordCamps after the events?

AI-generated headshots, made-up names, and false credentials count as deception, not just bad practice. If you manage several WordPress sites, audit authorship as well as content quality. Who is named as the author? Is a real person behind it? Does the bio match the content?

It also names what to avoid, which is covering trending topics you have no expertise in and generating articles at volume with no clear audience. The fake author point is the one I keep coming back to.

NiSHAT @rednishat.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
But "we used AI to scale" no longer works as a reason. Your reason has to make sense for the reader. The rest repeats what Google has said before: first-hand experience, original research, real authorship.

WordPress marketers, take notes. Google updated its helpful content guidelines, and one change matters if you use AI to write for your sites. Google now advises you to disclose when AI substantially generates your content, and to explain why automation was useful for that piece. It is not a ban.

If you manage @wordpress.org sites, check auto-updates today, update whatever is behind, and confirm the version on every client site. That's ten minutes per site if you keep a list, and a bad afternoon if you don't.

The ones I'd care about on user sites are a stored XSS in the comments admin, a second-order SQL injection in the WXR export, comments on private posts visible to logged-out visitors, and Author role users being able to sticky posts.

I did what I had first done on Fluent Support; I implemented my same marketing playbook, systems, and ultimately my marketing philosophy -- boring marketing. It took some time, but here we are. We are only 20% of the way to reaching my goal. Still miles to go 🚀 3/3

There was no clear direction, system, or goal behind content marketing. We had a good marketing team with lots of potential, but they had no one to guide them. 2/3

If your content was built on volume over quality, fix it now. Not after the update. Before. Because recovery takes months once it hits. Go read Lily's full breakdown → www.lilyraynyc.substack.com/p/prediction-the-next-massive-google/

Four spam updates in 2026 alone. All of 2025 had one. The gaps between updates keep shrinking. Lily has been through this cycle before. She called the March 2024 update before it hit. Her read this time is the same.

Google is now calling that deception, and their automated systems are watching. Gary Illyes said it out loud at a Google event in Barcelona. Scaled AI content is now a bigger problem than link spam.

They also added new language: producing large amounts of AI content without human oversight counts as "little to no effort." They also called out fake authors directly. AI-generated headshots, made-up names, false credentials.

Google has been dropping hints. And if you have been in this space long enough, you know what happens next. In the last two weeks, Google rewrote its AI content guidance and said it is now "critical" to manually review all AI-generated content before publishing.

Everyone's arguing $5M vs $20M for "fuck you money." From where I sit in Sylhet, $5M would fund three generations. The number was never the point. FU money is the day you can turn down work you don't believe in and still cover next month. Some people get there at $50K. Some never do at $20M.

Waking Up Every Day Is a Privilege — Weekly NishIsHere Issue 108 Researchers used Anthropic's Claude to hack into OpenAI So interesting! I did not know they made a song for the Rocky movie. "For $200 a month, anyone can use these tools and hack into a company like OpenAI. If it can happen to them — and I don't think they've been slouching recently on cybersecurity hygiene — it could happen to anyone." — Matt Fredrikson, CEO of Gray Swan Its our duty to warn them. I don't know how to react to this 😟
