Today I took Jukai and received my Buddhist name, Shōei 韶英, meaning splendid flower of the Dharma. I am joining Nichiren Shu as a practitioner of the Lotus Sutra. The same age that Nichiren was when on this holiday of Rikkyō Kaishū, he faced the rising sun on Mt. Kiyosumi, and recited the O-Daimoku

Some pictures from the New England Peace Pagoda, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of it being opened on Turtle Island with Nipponzan Myohoji, in coordination with the local Wampanoag tribal leaders, such as Sow Turtle. This stupa or pagoda contains relics of Shakyamuni Buddha gifted to Guruji.
