Several Missouri Republican candidates for Congress in District 5 challenged the primary results since Secretary of State Hoskins forced voters to use an invalid map during the primary. After expedited briefing, the judge ruled that the challengers were out of time under Missouri law. Ironically, Secretary Hoskins and Attorney General Hanaway defended Missouri law in this case and argued that making changes so close to an election would "usher in electoral chaos," citing the US Supreme Court's map redistricting case in which they were blamed for creating electoral chaos. The judgment could be appealed.
