Fuck me dead. No electricity for about an hour now. Great job Canberra. Can't do much of anything but wait in semi-darkness as the sun does down. Apparently it's going to take at least another 2 hrs to fix. Big area affected. Firies came & turned off the alarm in our plant room at least 🫩

From the little grey furry nubbin to the triffid arm and the bloom in the space of a couple of days. The flower lasted just a few hours in full bloom 🥹

The small furry grey nubbin has turned into a 15cm-long arm with a giant flower bud on the end

Just a day later it has a spectacular white bloom twice the size of the cactus on an arm that is now about 20cm long

The flower from the front. It's symmetry is perfect. It's almost luminescent.

Corny dog, one ear cocked, inside the car, as we drove past parliament house Canberra in the bushfire summer from hell, end of 2019. The intense smokey haze makes it hard to see.

Driving up towards Russell on Kings Avenue, Canberra, summer of 2019/20. The smoke is so thick that visibility is about 100 metres.

Looking up Anzac Parade, Canberra. About 250 metres from the War Memorial. Can't see the WM as the smoke is so thick.

Nice. I like the bend. I went to. Workshop recently with some world renowned bonsai artists and learned so much. They were expecting much more knowledge than what I had, but, hey, had a crash course in re-potting & roots, wiring. Took a former half dead Christmas tree to work on & now I have this 🙂

Bonsai pine in a literati style (sparse tree with few limbs as if fighting for space in a forest) with a jin (a "dead" section of trunk at the top of the tree that has been de-barked and roughed up a bit)
